1993 Honda CBR400RR For Sale in San Fran Area

I’ve always thought these were striking little bikes! Here’s a good looking NC29 CBR400RR for sale on the Bay Area Riders Forum:

quote from seller’s post:

1993 Honda CBR400RR NC29 Gull-Arm with CA Plate and Title (SPCN)

Asking $5000.

As shown in these pics, it has: eBay fairings, oem tank painted by Cycle Finish, frame sliders, oem wheels and forks powdercoated by a shop in Menlo Park, front fender by Tyga (also painted by Cycle Finish), Tyga windscreen. Camera mount not included.

Things you can’t see from pics: new Fox fully-adjustable shock (made for F2), Michelin Pilot Powers (plenty of tread left), front SS brake lines, K&N drop-in filter, titanium headers/midpipe.

* edit – new battery as of 3/14/09 *
* edit – new steering head bearings and fresh fork oil (20w) as of 3/20/09 *

Swapped the oem KMH speedo with MPH from 900RR.

The valves on this gear-driven cam I4 motor and carbs (with DynoJet) was inspected/adjusted/tuned by Elskipador. Has approx 25k miles.

It has the all important title, but with that kind of mileage is $5k too high? Leave a comment with your experience.

Vintage VFR: 1985 HONDA VFR 400 NC24 For Sale

I’ve been meaning to post this cool old Honda VFR for quite a while. It sports the same colors my buddy BV is lusting after on the 2007 anniversary edition VFR800: Classic white with blue and red details with the gold Honda wing logo.

This particular VFR400 is a pretty special model because it was never offered for sale in the states, and it sports some very cool features like the single-sided swingarm, V4 engine configuration, and rev happy 400cc motor. Check out this Honda VFR400 NC24 for sale in Kansas City on Craigslist ($3500):

Honda NC24 VFR400 For Sale in Kansas CityHonda NC24 VFR400 For SaleHonda NC24 VFR400 For Sale

quote from seller’s Craigslist posting:

MAKE: HONDA VFR 400 NC 24

ENGINE : 400 CC

TRANSMISSION : 6 SPEED
MILEAGE 40,054 KILOMETERS
ROTHMANS RACING, VERY RARE, ALL NEW DECALS AND NEW PAINT CODES FOR BIKE

www.frontstreetmotors.com

*First things first, this is not an 85. According to this Wikipedia article, the NC24 wasn’t introduced until 1987, and this bike definitely sports all the important features of the later NC24 model. But when I first saw the listing as an 85, it made me wonder if the 25 year rule works the same way it does for classic cars in the U.S. – no import or registration issues with models not previously imported. Anyone know for sure? Also, was there a Rothmans edition of the NC24?

It’s a cool bike for $3500 either way though! Here’s a sweet YouTube clip of an NC24 VFR400 in action:

1991 Honda NSR250 MC21 For Sale in Vegas Baby

Are 2 strokers getting more affordable in 2009? This low mileage NSR250 has plates and is only $4500?! Check out this 1991 Honda NSR250 For Sale on Craigslist:

quote from seller’s Craigslist listing:

1991 Honda NSR250 MC21 Streetbike
Imported from japan only 6,400 kilometers Street legal registered in Nevada all all stock never down, dry clutch, runs great in really good condition never abused serious inquires only please, asking $4,500 Clean Nevada title.

Is this the same bike I posted earlier last year? This is a serious price drop if it is.

These are getting cheap enough that it’s getting harder and harder to make excuses about why there isn’t one in my garage. Obviously with the sheer numbers of 2 strokes listed on this site, you know I’m a fan. Talk me out of a gray market 2 stroke… or can you at these prices?

1994 Honda CB400 Super Four

I didn’t even know Honda made such a cool bike! I need to expand my knowledge about sporting bikes that are even less known than the standard Japanese 2 stroke I guess…

Check out this very cool looking 1994 Honda CB400 for $1950 on Craigslist:

1994 Honda CB400 For Sale in California1994 Honda CB400 For Sale in California1994 Honda CB400 For SaleHonda CB400 For Sale

quote from seller’s Craigslist ad:

1994 CB400, red, super four.
77K kilometer, carb is rebuilt and everything was adjust to good spec 3yr ago, but never ride ever since.
hasn’t start for few years, needs some tune up to run.
Rare than NSR250, or anything else.
Gaurantee good engine and transmission, just need clean up the carb and oil…
Import from Japan gray market, not register.
very nice bike and rare, no time to finish it up.
Bike is in San Diego, CA.
bring your truck to pick it up, we help you to load it.

Now granted that’s 47,845 miles and no title. But with all the 2 strokes that have been showing up with titles, surely it can’t be that hard to pull off. This would be such a cool in-town commuter bike!

In a bad economy, the toys are apparently the first thing to go. Here are two more Honda MC21 NSR250’s for sale in California.

Next is another 93 NSR250 For Sale in San Diego for $5200:

1993 Honda NSR250 MC21 For Sale Repsol Replica

Judging from the pictures alone, I like the Rothmans replica better from the point of aesthetics alone. For around five grand, neither one seems like that bad a deal considering they both have titles!

Honda NSR250 MC18 For Sale

Check out this very low miles (2500!) Honda NSR250 for sale on San Francisco Craigslist for $4800:

Honda MC18 NSR250 For Sale Honda MC18 NSR250 For Sale with low miles Honda MC18 NSR250 For Sale Honda MC18 NSR250 For Sale 2 stroke

quote from seller’s Craigslist ad:

Up for sale is a Japanese spec MC18 NSR 250.

Chassis: MC18-111
Bike: NSR 250-3 2stroke
Color: black/silver
Mileage: 4,276km ~ 2,500 miles (ACTUAL)

Bike runs excellent and is a great track bike. Handles like a dream. This mc18 has been known as one of the best in the entire NSR lineup (better than mc21 and mc28). Bike is not registered and is being sold for off-road use purposes. Please see pics.

With no title, this great little bike will be attractive to collectors and track day enthusiasts. As a track day bike, do you pick something like this or a new Aprilia RS125? I sat on the latter this past weekend at the Seattle International Motorcycle Show, it’s amazing how beautiful it is in person…

An RVF400 and VFR400 For Sale in the Bay Area

San Fran Craigslist continues to be the leader amongst all listings featured on this blog. I’m going to have to start tagging entries especially for the lucky enthusiast who live in the area!

First up, the 1990 NC30 VFR 400R:

quote from seller’s Craigslist ad:

*Up for sale is a JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) 1990 Honda VFR400R NC30.
*Bike has 24,626 km on the clock.
*Bike runs great, no leaks.
*Bike is not registered. Grey import for race use only in the US.
*Tires are Dunlop K510F 120/60R17 in the front and Dunop K510B 150/60R18 in the rear.
*There are some minor scratches and scuffs on the paint as you would expect coming from 17 year old bike but otherwise this bike is in pristine condition.

$3,900 obo

And next this Honda RVF400:

quote from seller’s Craigslist ad:

Honda RVF 400 $3000. Cali reg as a RVF400
This bike is very rare and fun to ride… I need it gone for a new toy I am only selling cheap for two reasons 1.) I need the space 2.) I took off the fairing because I was going to paint. so you have to re-install
good ~ Bike is fun to ride and rare (great for new rider)
bad need paint and wind screen is cracked

Naturally the VFR400 with original looking bodywork would be my pick. Too bad it doesn’t have registration. The RVF400 is probably the cooler bike mechanically, but restored plastics would be at the top of my list. But with a title and registration, and an asking of only $3k, it’d be a great rider while you tried to determine if it was going to be a track bike or light restoration for the street.

Check out the Wikipedia entry on the RVF400, which also details the differences with the VFR400.
