1998 Aprilia RS250

Located in Coopersburg, Pennsylvania is a quite nice 1998 Aprilia RS250 with 23,336 miles (!).  It would less surprising if it was actually 23k kilometers, but, this is apparently a well used RS250; the seller (A dealer) claims to have recently done a full motor and transmission rebuild.  Scratches on left side from going down (not mentioned at speed or if just dropped) but not shown in pictures and a crack under the headlight are the only claimed defects.  This bike is registered with an opening bid of $6,500 and no reserve.  I’d be interested to see this start at a lower opening bid to see how the miles reflect on the selling price.  See the eBay ad here

EDIT: This bike sold with one bid for $6,500 on 07/01/2009.

If you’re interested in a track only Aprilia, there is a 1996 Aprilia RS125 in Gaithersburg, Maryland.  This RS is in track condition, with different colored plastics and scars.  The bike will need to be gone through as the motor isn’t running correctly.  The motor does have some modifications and comes with a partial spares package.  The buy it now is $4,500 with a $2,000 opening bid and a reserve.  Also, check out the sellers Ferrari Mondial convertible in the background.  See the eBay ad here

EDIT: This bike received ten bids to the amount of $3,400 but didn’t meet reserve on 07/01/2009.

1985 Yamaha RZ500 $1800

Located in San Francisco, California is a modified 1985 Yamaha RZ500.  I’m not entirely sure what body work is fitted to this bike but it has been made to look like a “Valentino Rossi” GP bike and fitted with a FZR front end and rear wheel.  Seller states: “TSI GP pipes, TZmikes carbon cans, FRZ600 front end and rear wheel. Underseat oil tank, carbon tech reeds, mild port work. new pistons and rings.”  I assume this bike isn’t titled or plated.  Regardless of this bikes modified condition, it is a running RZ500 priced at only $1,800; making it worth a look.  See the Craigslist ad here.

1986 Suzuki RG500 Gamma

Located in Seattle, Washington is a good looking 1986 Suzuki RG500.  This example has a GHN transmission, TC exhaust, and a spares package.  Limited information provided but the seller provided a contact number.  Asking price is $12,000.  See the Craigslist ad here.

Also, available in Las Vegas, Nevada is another 1986 Suzuki RG500.  The seller states:

Cycle Worlds readers collection. Fox shock, Olins stering damper, fork brace, wolf pipes, GSXR wheels, JMC swing arm, Skidmark twin head lights. Many polished parts. Parked for ten years, never broken just tired.

“…just tired.” is interesting wording.  Does the bike simply need to be tuned or have the motor gone through?  Regardless, the asking price is $7,000.  See the Craigslist ad here.

1997 Aprilia RS125

Located in San Francisco, California is an unregistered 1997 Aprilia RS125.  The seller doesn’t state much other than how he was able get a plate for street use–not an advisable route.  However, this bike looks quite clean and worth looking into.  Bike is advertised at $4000.  See the Craigslist ad here.

2000 Cagiva Mito

Located in Menlo Park, California is a plated 2000 Cagiva Mito Evo II with 922 original kilometers. These little 125’s are full size and very sexy, being designed by Massimo Tamburini of Ducati 916/748/996/998 and MV Agusta fame. Asking $4500 seems fair being as the most recent one that I’m aware of (Nov. ’08) had higher miles and was asking $4000. See the Craigslist ad here.

Aprilia RS250 Challenge Bike For Sale with Title

It’s been rumored that the Challenge bikes were a bit easier to title than the gray market imports. Here’s one in Cali for $8k on Craigslist:

quote from seller’s listing:

999/2000 Aprilia RS250 California Reg. Street legal two Stroke
Its true a street legal version of the RS250! VERY CLEAN BIKE only 4300 miles. Come and get one of the best handling street bikes on the road and scream down the streets turning everybody’s head like a top.
WILL CONSIDER REASONABLE OFFERS. CASH TALKS

1999 and up “Challenge” models, which means they share the common 1998+ specification, which includes the following (which would differ from pre 1998 bikes):
• Showa 41mm usd forks with compression and rebound damping adjustment as well as spring preload adjustment.
• Suzuki RGV250 Gamma engine
• Suspension designed for the longer shock
• easily accessed oil injection tank and coolant overflow tank
• 3.5″ x 17 front wheel, can fit 120/60 ~ 120/70 section tire
• 4.5″ x 17″ rear wheel, can fit 150~165 rear tire
• 60~65 hp
• Approximate 300 pound weight

We’ve listed lots of Aprilia’s on this blog and this one seem a touch on the high side. But it does only have 4300 miles and it boasts a street registration. Could be good for the right buyer.

1992 Kawasaki KR1S

If you’re looking for a rare, two-stroke, sport bike and think that NSRs and RGVs are too prevalent: we have for you a 1992 Kawasaki KR1S located in Austell, Georgia.  The seller doesn’t mention much about condition, or title, but provides contact information to follow up on and it is looks to be a pretty complete street bike–shown without exhaust or lower faring fitted.  The seller is asking $5,800 for a very, very rare (at least in the U.S.) Kawasaki.  See the WERA forum thread here.

1985 Yamaha RD500

Located in La Palma, California is a 1985 Yamaha RD500LC that only need some minor work to be complete.  This two owner RD500 shows only 3916km (2433mi) and only has 400mi since a “…frame off mechanical restoration.”  Supposedly the bike has mechanically been completely gone through and only need some minor cosmetic touches to complete it.

Cylinders were honed and ports chamfered. New oem rings, wrist pins and clips installed. Every seal, gasket and o-ring was replaced along with oil injector lines. Brakes were completely rebuilt including master cylinders, calipers (fitted with EBC HH pads) and rotors resurfaced. All wheel bearings were replaced with new sealed bearings

This RD500 needs some cosmetic replacement parts, most importantly the exhaust and fairings, to become a very nice, low mileage bike.  The bike is titled and registered in California. Seller is also a usa2strokers.com forum member so contact him through that site or through the eBay ad here.
