Bike is complete. Was disassembled by Honda mechanic to repair spun bearing. The tech was unfamiliar with this model and the bike was pulled from the shop. It has been stored inside and has only 1400 miles on it. As any motorcycle enthusiast knows this is an extremely rare find. Please note the vin#. This bike is #35 in production. Never raced. Need to be reassembled by proper technician. All parts for repair and assembly included, minus marcesinni wheel, it has stock wheels on it now.

Known as the Honda RVF750R RC45 in full name parlance, the RC45 was a step forward from the RC30; essentially the same motor configuration and transmission were used, with the engine recieving fuel injection, a shortened stroke for more RPM and head tweaks for breathing. Many of the RC45 advancements were shared with the oval piston NR750, showing Honda’s goal of supreme engineering along with a Henry Ford approach to platform use.

US spec 1994 HRC RC45 for sale. One of only 50 produced for the US market in 1994 with 20 or so delivered to private race teams… very rare bike.
This bike is in excellent condition with only 7611 miles. It has aftermarket indicator lights and Marchesini wheels but I have all the originals to make the bike look just as it did out of the factory.
I don’t have any time to ride it… It could be yours.
A US specification RC45 is down approximately 18 horsepower from the European variant – but that power is relatively easily “found” again with a wiring change to the fuel injection unit. Many believe that the RC45 is one of the rarest of the Honda models to be found these days: from a total of 200 produced only 50 were imported into the US, and of those at least 20 went directly into the hands of race teams. That doesn’t leave many street bikes left, which is why these do not come up for auction very often.
The priviledge of owning a piece of HRC history does not come cheap. This particular bike is listed with a starting bid of $25,000 USD, with a reserve in place. No takers thus far, but this is early days for this one. So the RC30 has been written about on RSBFS many, many times. Almost every aspect you can think of has been covered. It’s an extremely special machine that holds a special place in the motorcycle world. If you’re a guitar guy, it’s the ’59 Les Paul of sportbikes. So I don’t know that there’s really anything more that needs to be said. Simply, the RC30 speaks for itself.

The motor runs and idles flawlessly just like the day it left the factory.

I’ve had a few RC’s over the years and also have some other bits left over which I’ll be selling after the auction. The winning bidder will have first right of refusal on the following items. All below items will be included IF the Buy it Now option is selected.

- One nut securing the right mirror is not the correct original black acorn nut. The original went missing on a ride and was replaced with a zinc plated nut out of my stock.
- The first owner had a garage mishap in the early 90’s where something fell off of a shelf and landed on the tail section. There was a minor fiberglass repair to the original OEM Honda tail section which was professionally repainted with OEM Honda paint and OEM Honda decals. The repair is exceptional and not noticeable.
- There is a small scrape on the left front caliper that occurred during trailering.
- The front tire is original and should not be ridden on. Rather than install a tire on the 3 inch wide OEM front rim I purchased a new CBR600F3 rim (described above) which is the correct 3.5 inches wide needed for current size tires. That wheel (which is ready to bolt on), is available to the winning bidder to purchase. The rear tire on the bike is new and matches this front.
I think the pictures show the exceptional condition accurately. The last picture is from another RC30 I owned circa 1994 that I had painted by the same guy who did all the Honda factory AMA race bikes which I included just for fun (sorry but it’s not included in this auction)!

The seller gives a very detailed account of the bike and you’ll obviously want all of that to know what you’re getting. This is a major purchase so do all your homework and then do it again. That being said, it looks like a very clean example that will likely command top dollar.
So here’s another chance to own an amazing machine. If you have the cash for an RC30 then you are lucky and I also kind of hate you. Okay, not really. But if you can afford it, live for all of us and check this auction!
Englewood, CO – 7,102 miles – $20K opening bid
It’s been a few minutes since the last time we saw an RC30 for sale here in the States, and this one comes to us from Colorado. In 1987, the VFR750R was only produced for the Japanese market and featured a restricted 77hp motor. 1,000 of these JDM units were produced and are distinguished by their smaller diameter headlights and black mirrors. The RC30 was produced for other markets around the world in 1988 and 1989 and had a claimed 112hp engine. These bikes featured the “VFR750R” branding on the tail as well as larger diameter headlamps and white mirrors. In 1990, the U.S. received the RC30 with about 86hp on tap for the 49-state model (which features a “0” in the 8th position of the VIN). The California model (which is identified by a “1” in the 8th position of the VIN) was more restricted and had a low lift cam and softer valve springs while redlining at 12,000 rpm (12,500 rpm redline for the rest of the U.S. models). The U.S. version is also distinguished by the “RC30” decal on the tail versus the “VFR750R” seen on non-U.S. models. It also appears that the U.S. version had the red Honda wing logo on the tank as opposed to the gold logo for foreign bikes. As a side note, there were some bikes made for the UK market in 1990, so the U.S. was not the only place to receive the 1990 model year.
Now that we are refreshed on the RC30, we move onto the bike for sale here. The 8th spot on the VIN is a zero, so it would indicate that this is the 49-state model. Interestingly, the frame was apparently replaced by Honda under warranty and will come with the original frame. This was also a fairing-off professional resto. The bike looks great, however I would like to know more details as to what exactly was done and how in depth the restoration was. The seller does point out two small drilled holes in the side of the fairing that looked like they were used to mount something.

Up for auction is a super rare and gorgeous 1990 Honda VFR750R RC30. This bike was a fairing off professional restore and looks great. Tank is original, it was not restored and has original paint. Only 7102 miles on the odometer. The pictures say it all. Only flaw that is seen is the two small holes that are in the fairing, this looks to have been a mounting point for something, but is not currently being used.
Bike has never been wrecked, but it does not have the original frame, the original frame was replaced by Honda under warranty. We do have the original frame that will go with the bike upon sale and all paperwork re-confirming the replacement.

There you go. Another clean example of one of the most coveted bikes in the Rare Sport Bike Universe. These have been consistently pulling process in the mid $20k range and sometimes close to $30k. Tulsa, OK – 10,337 miles – Currently $18,300
If the RC30 featured last week wasn’t enough, we have yet another one of these sought after VFR750Rs up for sale currently. If the Northeast is too far for you, have a look at this one that comes of out Oklahoma. These don’t come up for sale on a regular basis, but I guess when it rains, it pours.
This bike also has low-ish miles with only 10,337 on the clock. The only modification to this one is an auxiliary switch that allows you to run the radiator fan at all times, in case you like to keep it cooler than the other side of the pillow. Recent and extensive maintenance is also apparent as given buy the valve adjustment, fluids, carb cleaning, seals, hoses, and then some. The seller details this better, so with out wasting any time…
I purchased this bike from a collector of rare Honda motorcycles in 2001. It was included in my collection of limited-production homologation motorcycles. It has been ridden carefully on nice days and stored in a climate-controlled display room in my house. It has not been used for track days, or in rain.
It is stock, apart from the addition of a switch adjacent to the choke knob that allows the radiator fan to run at any time, regardless of water temperature. The wires for the switch can be seen on the left side of the radiator area, as they are disconnected from the switch when the bodywork is removed. It has recently had a very comprehensive service that included checking the valve clearances; changing all of the fluids, filters and spark plugs; disassembling, inspecting and cleaning the carburettors, an installing installing new o-rings, gaskets and tuning and balancing them; disassembling, cleaning and installing new seals in the brake calipers, brake master cylinders, clutch master and slave cylinders; replacing various rubber hoses and lines; installing new tires; replacing the battery; servicing the forks; and going over the entire bike to make sure that it is mechanically 100%. Needless to say, the engine starts easily and the bike runs very well.
All of the body panels are the original hand-laid fiberglass factory parts. The paint is in very good overall condition. There are a few small stone chips and scratches that have been touched up but they are not apparent unless you examine the paint very closely. The bike presents very well.
Included is the original bike tool kit in a blue denim cloth bag, the original owner’s manual, two keys and the factory rear wheel stand. I may have some spare oil filters and fluids that I will give to the buyer.
The title is a clear, normalOklahomatitle and it will be held in escrow by my attorney until full payment is made. Payment will be made by bank wire transfer only, to my attorney’s trust account. Details are available upon request.
There you have it, yet another clean and near stock RC30 for sale right here in the US. Bidding is up to $18,300 and the reserve has not yet been met. Given the care this bike has received, I would suspect the reserve to be somewhere in the mid to high $20k range. You can bet prices won’t be going down anything soon for these as they have risen steadily over the past few years. The seller provides a link to even more pictures here. It doesn’t take a Rare Sport Bike “Expert” to tell you that the Honda RC30 is one of the most sought after sport bikes on the market. Fans of all types of sport bikes tend to agree that the RC30 was a special bike and near perfect machine. Combine good looks, homologation special, hand laid fiber glass fairings, and the race pedigree to back it up, and it’s no wonder these bikes are continuing to rise in value.
This bike looks very clean and clearly it has been taken care of by the original owner its entire life. It sports the US indicating red Honda logo, “RC30” badge (Euro’s got the “VFR750R” badge) and the larger headlight design as well as the white mirrors. The early JDM models had smaller diameter headlights and black mirrors. It isn’t bone stock, but only has some minimal modification. These include SS brake lines, modified stock signals, plate bracket, and easy-reach petcock knob.
From the seller:
1990 RC30. Owned since new by a former Honda shop mechanic. 6954 miles, excellent condition, stored in heated garage/showroom as part of a collection. Bike was last ridden in 2008, at which time the fuel system was completely drained, and carb float bowls and jets were cleaned. Oil was changed 96 miles ago, coolant about 400 miles ago. Tires are OEM replacements, with around 1000 miles on them, but changed in 1995, so they’re getting pretty hard. Brake fluid changed in 2010 (and every 2 years prior), fork oil changed in 2010 as well.Batterynew in 2008, and still holds a charge (on battery tender once a month).
Modifications include SS brake lines, stock turn signals tucked in closer, shorter license plate bracket, lighter bar end plugs, and custom easier-to-reach petcock knob. All stock parts are included. Also, the numerous warning labels were removed when new, but a set of new OEM replacements is included.
The only flaws are a small scratch on top of the tail (touched up), a slight scratch on the muffler, and marks on the wheels from original wheel weights (see photos). Front and bottom of belly pan were protected from new with adhesive clear plastic, which I removed prior to photos, as it was getting a bit shabby looking. Did it’s job, though!
With sub 10k miles and a mostly stock appearance, this bike sure looks to be a good one. It’s hard to gripe too much about a couple small scratches on a 22-year old bike. The tires will probably need replacing if you are looking to ride this one (and I hope you do!), but for someone looking to display this beauty, then I wouldn’t worry too much. The last super clean RC30 got bid up to $28k and still failed to meet reserve. No telling where the reserve is on this one, but I imagine somewhere in the $25k+ area. It’s a one owner bike, so I doubt it will be low. Check out the auction here and place you bid today!
