Bimotas YB4 and YB6, and a Ducati 851 For Sale Outside Seattle

From the “Seattle Homologation Superbike Collection“, these three examples are now listed on eBay:

1988 Bimota YB6 For Sale Perfect Condition

This is a great bike and in wonderful “rider” condition.

That means this bike has been ridden. It is not a museum queen that has been parked.

It has a few miles under the belt but is in pretty good condition for its age.

The bike carries a set of Keihin Flat-Slide race carbs on it so it has the “race rattle” of the flat slides to go along with a STRONG running 1000cc Yamaha engine.

All operator manuals, service manuals and factory tool kit are also included.

If you are looking at this auction and are a serious collector -then you already know how rare these old Bimotas are here in the USA.

If you are looking for an original Bad Boy Bimota with a large capacity 1000cc Yamaha in-line 4 engine that can actually be ridden down the road on a daily commute or regular trips up and down the street for Bike Night, this is the bike for you.

1992 Ducati 851 For Sale Very Low Miles

1988 Bimota YB6 For Sale Perfect Condition

1988 Bimota YB6

Update 8.9.2010: SOLD!

Comments from the seller:

A beautiful old school collector for the Bimota enthusiasts.

Yamaha 1000cc engine with Keihin flat-slide carbs
(oh….this one will scoot alright!!).

Growls like a mean-ass junk yard dog.

1988 Bimota YB4E.I. For Sale

1988 Bimota YB4E.I.

Comments from the seller:

Take a look at this sexy thing……probably my favorite Bimota of all time. This thing is such a work of art. The 1988 YB4E.I. model released after Bimota took the last ever TT-F1 title in ’87.

Graves Yamaha AMA Formula Extreme R7-1 For Sale

Graves Yamaha AMA Formula Extreme R7-1

Update 8.9.2010: SOLD!

Comments from the seller:

Graves Yamaha AMA Formula Extreme R7-1 raced by Damon Buckmaster (AUS). YEC factory kit EVERYTHING from frame to swingarm to bracing to chassis to radiator to engine and every part on it. Adjustable swingarm pivot, steering stem, ride heights, etc.

Stroker 1080cc full-on SuperBike factory engine and every special YEC Kit factory item from the Yamaha WSBK team. 190hp and the best SBK chassis available back when Superbikes were Superbikes (and not warmed-over street bikes). This thing is light and goes like a missile.

The R7-1 was actually BANNED from AMA competition after it laid waste to the Formula Extreme class back in the days before the AMA series scuttled the class because the FX bikes were faster than the 750cc SuperBike Class (headliner) machines.

Have a ton of the press articles on the bike from magazines (and web
magazines) of the day.

{Still kneeling right?}

Honda RC45 RVF750 For Sale

Honda RC45 RVF750

Update 9.13.2010: SOLD!

Comments from the seller:

Very clean example with 6,975 miles on it. Has the HRC PGM wire modification done to it (more HP)
and has a aftermarket exhaust canister installed for a little more of that V-4 sound.

Bimota Vdue For Sale

Bimota Vdue

Comments from the seller:

Still in all original condition. 360 kilometers. Has the usual Vdue “issues” with the engine fueling -but can be sorted out.
(I’ve got another bike exactly the same that has been sorted and runs great.) This bike has stayed in original condition
though and has not had any modifications done to it.

So here’s my question: How do you choose? This is my favorite era of SportBike and seeing a collection like this is exactly what I’d like to have in my own stable some day. It would be like that corner spot in the Barber Motorsports Museum with all the great ones:

Interested parties better hurry because come Thursday after my $175mil PowerBall lotto ticket hits, I’m just going to buy them all!

If you have questions about the model specifications or history, or just want to chat about the collection, please post a comment below — the whole RSBFS team is going to keep an eye on this thread and will be happy to answer questions! Qualified buyers, I am acting as a proxy for the seller. Please send your inquires to dan@motoringblogs.com for additional details.

1990 Ducati 851 Strada With 2,565 Miles In California

This is an excellent 851 in California with less than 3k miles!

Bike:  1990 Ducati 851

Price:  $8,000 USD

Location:  Santa Barbra, California

Mileage:  2,565mi

Located in Santa Barbra, California is a 1990 Ducati 851 with 2,565 original miles.  The seller states that this bike is perfect and and has always been cared for and garaged.

This price looks to be correct for the low mileage as we’ve seen other examples, with more miles, at or very near this price.  See the other posts we’ve had for 851’s in the past here.  See this current 851 on Craigslist here.

1992 Ducati 851 Strada With 9,870 Original Miles

This Ducati 851 has 9,870 original miles and looks to be in good condition.  Located in Wake Forest, North Carolina is a 1992 Ducati 851 Strada with 9,870 miles.  The valve service was done at 9,500 and new tires were put on at 9,700.  The seller states that this bike is all original, not museum quality but, very nice still.  The price of $7,950 seems a bit high but, it’s probably a reflection of the, just, sub-10k miles.

1993 is the last year for the 851 Strada which featured a 95hp L-Twin, 41mm USD Showa adjustable forks, Showa adjustable rear shock and a 210kg (462lb) wet weight.  This looks to be a very nice, usable, example.  See it on Craigslist here.

1993 DUCATI 888 SPO CLEAN AND PRETTY DAMN ORIGINAL

I remember back in 1994 I was at my local Ducati dealer looking at bikes. He had a new ’93 SPO there and he said because the bike was like $13,500 at the time they were slow to sell. I was at the 1994 AMA Superbike round at Loudon and watched Fast by Ferracci pilot Troy Corser on the 888 kill the competition and ended up winning the AMA Superbike Championship that year. Also at that race they displayed the NEW 1995 Ducati 916 street bike and my whole  life changed in a matter of minutes. In 1995 I had a new 916 and an 888 SPO, life was good.

This one seems pretty nice but the mileage is a bit steep for any collector. It looks good via the pictures and what’s better is that it hasn’t been heavily “molested”.  The carbon bits look okay until you get to the Lockhart Phillips carbon triple clamp protector (I just hate those things). The rear license plate holder has been cut up and that’s a complete under tray you’ll be buying to make it more original, but all in all the bike could clean up. Located in NY it’s on EBay with a “Buy It Now” of $11,495  click

So where does this leave us? Well, again, from the pictures the bike looks to be pretty nice and taken care of, it’s serviced up and ready to go which is a plus. The “Buy It Now” is  $11,495 which isn’t too far off, I think the bike would be well priced at  the $9000 range. These bikes really seem to hold a decent value, I mean I bought mine in 1995 used with 500 miles on it, Termignoni slip-ons, for $9500. Sold it about a year or so later for $10,500 with 1500 miles, I guess I just rode the 916 too much but given the choice again these 888’s sound like no other, the 916 is “so 5 min ago”. With their specific bore and stroke, you get  a true badass V8 muscle car tone like no other.

1991 Ducati 851 Strada In New Hampshire

This is a very nice looking Ducati 851 with relatively low miles!  Located in Hopkinton, New Hampshire is a 1991 Ducati 851 Strada with 11,943 original miles.  This bike is current on it’s services with a recent 12k mile service performed at BCM Motorsports.  The bike also has new Michelin Pilot Power’s, and D&D exhaust with a matched ECU.  This would make a very solid canyon carver as it’s service is up to date, it has relatively low miles but not low enough that you cannot use the bike.  The asking price is $5,750; giving it a slight discount on the 1,800 original mile example which did have some special bits.  However, crabbing about $500 isn’t going to win you any awards and I wouldn’t feel bad taking this one home at close to this price if it is indeed in fine fettle.  See this weekend warrior on Craigslist here.

Clean 1991 Ducati 851 In PA

Low mile Ducati 851 in PA on Craigslist

It might be a 1991 but doesn’t this Ducati still look the business?  A reader found this nice example hiding on Craigslist in PA.  It has roughly 12,000 miles on it and some tasteful upgrades.  The 851 was Ducatis’ first step back into racing dominance and 1991 was the last year of the 851 before the release of the 888.  It combined four valve heads, liquid cooling and electronic fuel injection into a package that we still lust after today.

From the seller:

This is the motorcycle that began 20 years of racing success for Ducati. This beautiful RED Duc. has 12K miles, runs perfectly and had recent full service w/belts replaced. Extras incl. GioCaMoto Hi-Exit Carbon pipes, Carbon frt. fender & rear hugger, Ohlins shock, new Mich. Pilot Powers. Aesthetically very good to excellent

Unless there is a flood of these on the market the price sure seems in the ballpark.  It is a little below book and who would raise their nose at an Ohlins shock and a couple of carbon bits?  Take a look at it here on Craigslist

Here is a little race action from 92 between Falappa (remember him?)  and Fogarty on a couple of 888 you couldn’t buy.  Doesn’t it just sound good in Italian?
