As witnessed in my recent posts, I’m a 748/916/996/998 fan. So of course I’m attracted to this one which has the solo seat, 5 spoke Marchesini rims, and is in red — which we all know is faster than the yellow variants.
2004 Ducati Superbike 998FE For Sale on eBay
This is the last of the breed though. The 998 “Final Edition” is a special mount in it’s own right. Being a 998 it features the upcoming 999 Testastretta engine in the existing platform. This motor is less maintenance intensive and doesn’t have any of the flaking rocker issues found in the earlier engine design. It also sports full Öhlins suspension, special paint accents to denote it as an FE, and a numbered plaque of course.
From the seller:
All stock except Moto Corse exhaust.
Okay, the seller’s description is lacking. But you’re not going to lay down this kind of cash without a full inspection anyway. Starting bid is $11k and is currently without any bidders and reserve not met. But with only 1000 miles, I wouldn’t let it go cheap either. Bid accordingly and tell them you spotted it at RSBFS!
Thanks for the spot Anthony!

Wow- a Limited Edition Ducati with a numbered plaque! That must automatically mean it’s rare, collectable, and worth thousands of dollars more! NOT…
Very nice, although I think you’ve got one of your facts wrong.
Yellow Ducati’s are faster 😀
Where’s the link? As in – where is it for sale.
And I can assure you that this last version of the 916/996/998 is at risk of the flaking rocker finish issue. This problem was not gone by 2004 …
Happy, thanks for the note about the link — I forgot to make a text link but all the pictures link to the auction too. Now corrected.

I think Marcel is right about the speed/color correlation. Red is for show, yellow is for go! 🙂
I am interesting to buy this bike, email me(maxkingx@gmail.com).
