US fans of this site will no doubt be fans of the RZ350, but may not be as familiar with that bike’s predecessor, the Yamaha RD350LC, as it was never officially sold here. Intended as a follow up to the successful RD400, the new bike featured a slightly smaller engine displacing 347cc, but liquid-cooling allowed the new bike to produce a claimed 47hp, up from the 44hp of the RD400. It was lighter too, with a dry weight of just 340lbs, compared to 364lbs for the RD. Styling as well was far more modern, although not quite as edgy as the RZ that followed, and it lacked the RZ’s dramatic paint and graphics. The resulting bike was fast, fun, and flickable, a modern classic in every sense.
Up for sale: an extremely low kilometer RD350LC. Bike is all original, was sitting in long term storage for the last 30 years. Bike has been fully serviced and runs perfectly. Brakes all work, radiator has no leaks, shifts good, and runs out strong. Overall good stock condition. The tank is clean inside but has some dings and dents. Bike has original MSO.
This particular Yamaha RD350LC is a low-mileage survivor. It’s hard to get a real sense of the cosmetic condition, as the photos are a bit overexposed and as a result the white paint hides most of the dings and dents that the seller helpfully describes. But the bike is complete and is claimed to be mechanically restored and to run well, so the tank, fender, and side panels can easily be repainted if the patina bothers you. The $10,000 asking price is on the low side, compared to a similar RZ, for a bike with comparable performance and a more understated style.
