“Offering a balance between comfort and performance, the Triumph Daytona 1200 was a sport-touring motorcycle that was manufactured from 1993 to 1996.
During this time, most major motorcycle manufacturers entered a gentlemen’s agreement to cap horsepower at 125. Triumph decided that when they were going to bring the bikes back from the new plant in Hinckley, that the best way for them to get attention was to ignore said agreement: enter the 147 horsepower of the Daytona’s liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 1180cc inline-four.
A year after the bike went out of production, Triumph brought back the 1200 for a limited Special Edition run of just 250. Many of these machines have been documented over the years on Triumph Rat with an unofficial registry which started in 2007 and is still being updated!
All the Special Edition bikes were adorned in a beautiful black and gold livery. It also came with individually numbered plates on the headstock and 6-piston caliper brakes from the Daytona Super III.”
SELLER
I bought it from the second owner back in early 2019. He was a meticulous buyer and told me the bike was a 9 out of 10 cosmetically (I’d put it 9.5 out of 10) and a 10/10 mechanically. It’s been an outstanding, trouble-free bike. In addition to being a total bad-ass bike, the bar positions, along with the perfectly sized seat, are the best, most comfortable all-day sport bike riding triangles I’ve ever experienced. I used the same measurements on a custom-built bike I’m working on. Super hard to get rid of just because of the reliability, power and perfect riding position.

Jim has another beauty to share with the Rare Sportbike world. This machine is a power tourer. It can brawl with the best of the ’90s liter bikes and still turn heads today.
You can tell by the photos that his bike has presence. On top of that, the Daytona is fast. It has a huge inline-four (1180cc) which is great for someone who wants to do long, spirited rides.
Please note: If you are okay with NOT blending in at the local bike gathering AND you like to talk with other enthusiasts, here is your ticket to an ice-breaker at the next Bikes and Breakfast gathering.
Only 250 of the 1200 SE were made, and this is #131.
For the collectors that are wondering how this could fit in with their stable…. If you collect British bikes, this is the bridge between the old Triumph legacy and it’s new rebirth. And if you focus on ’90s Sportbikes, it’s a perfect companion to bikes like the Honda CBR900RR Fireblade, Suzuki GSX-R1100, or Yamaha FZR1000.

Good luck to the buyer and Jim!
