Well, a pure, hand-built racing machine from KTM was too good for me to pass up. Unfortunately, I’m not really that well-versed on what we’re looking at here. This 2006 KTM RC125 appears to be a 125cc, liquid-cooled, two-stroke racing single virtually identical to the 125 Grand Prix racing machines, but built and imported to compete in the 2006 Red Bull AMA Rookies Cup series. The engine was backed by a six-speed gearbox, and the package was suspended from a very stout aluminum beam frame, with adjustable WP suspension at both ends, along with 17″ wheels and Brembo brakes. Weight? 140lbs. Power? 45hp. There are a lot of additional photos over at gpmotorbikes.com where the same bike seems to be listed for sale, although spare parts are claimed to be available for an additional cost. Specifically: “pistons, cylinders, fairings, sprockets, footrest, etc.”

2006 KTM RC125 Red Bull Rookies Cup. Hand built at KTM Factory Racing. New never raced. Retailed new at 42,000 euro. Great collector bike! This bike should not be put on the track! There are no parts available!
This KTM RC125 would obviously be best suited to life as a static display, having never turned a wheel in anger, hopefully somewhere highly visible in a lobby or office or living room. But I do find it hard to believe that “This bike should not be put on the track! There are no parts available!” I mean, there are plenty of very rare racing [two-stroke and four-stroke] motorcycles that take to the track every year at events all over the world, so it would seem strange that parts to keep a KTM RC125 running can’t be found anywhere, at any price… Folks with experience running a rare racing two-stroke, please chime in in the comments below!
