This is Roger Reiman’s personal 1977 Harley-Davidson XLCR 1000 Café Racer, showing only 3,766 original miles.
Roger Reiman wasn’t just another racer—he was an AMA Grand National Champion, Daytona winner, legendary Harley-Davidson factory racer, and later became widely recognized as Evel Knievel’s chief mechanic and motorcycle builder. His influence on American motorcycle racing spans generations.
The XLCR itself is one of Harley-Davidson’s most recognizable and desirable production motorcycles.
Designed under the direction of legendary stylist Willie G. Davidson, the XLCR broke away from traditional Harley styling with its aggressive café racer design, quarter fairing, rear-set controls, cast wheels, dual front disc brakes, and blacked-out performance appearance.
Production lasted only two years (1977-1978), making surviving examples highly collectible. Finding one with documented ownership by Roger Reiman elevates this motorcycle into an entirely different class of desirability.

We’ve had a run of XLCRs come through here lately, from a 37-mile unicorn to a couple of clean survivors, and it says something that this one still manages to stand out. Provenance will do that.
Roger Reiman isn’t a name you drop lightly. AMA Grand National Champion, Daytona winner, factory Harley racer, and the guy Evel Knievel trusted to keep his bikes running. If this bike really came out of his personal collection, that’s not just a nice story for the listing, that’s the kind of thing that moves an XLCR from “rare survivor” to “the one to have.”
The XLCR itself needs no introduction to anyone who’s spent time on this site. Willie G’s cafe racer experiment famously flopped on the showroom floor in ’77 and ’78, and about 3,100 units later Harley pulled the plug. Forty-some years on, the bikes nobody wanted are exactly the bikes everyone wants. At 3,766 miles this one is well within the range we’d call “actually ridden a little, not just parked,” which for an XLCR is its own kind of rare.
Worth asking the seller for documentation tying the bike to Reiman specifically, bill of sale, title history, photos, anything. A story this good deserves paperwork to match, and buyers will pay a real premium for it if it checks out.
