In case you’re wondering: yes, I am in fact contractually obligated to post any and all Honda VFR750R RC30s I find for sale in the US. This particular example is particularly clean, with just 2,977 miles on the odometer, although it will require a bit of work to make it roadworthy, as the fuel has been drained and it obviously hasn’t been used very much. Which is a bit of a shame, because the bike itself, while nothing too spectacular by today’s standards in terms of performance, was the absolute gold standard for sportbikes when it was in production. At a possibly shocking 520lbs wet, it wasn’t particularly light even then and, with just 102 claimed horses from its 748cc V4 engine, there were faster bikes in a straight line. But it was highly tuneable, adaptable, forgiving to ride, and featured incredible build quality. It was stuffed with exotic technology like the aforementioned V4 engine, gear-driven cams, a 360° crankshaft that enhanced traction at the rear during acceleration, and the gorgeous ELF-designed Pro-Link single-sided swingarm for quick tire changes when the bike was adapted for endurance racing. Unlike other homologation bikes that were roadbikes developed for the track, the RC30 was a racebike adapted for the road. In typical Honda fashion, it managed to be good at both.

1990 VFR750R Honda RC30. Mileage speaks to condition. Freshly serviced.
New battery, fuel drained and battery disconnected. Bike comes with new set of tires packaged.
Well, as always, I do wish the seller would tell us a bit more about this very nice Honda VFR750R RC30, but they make a good point: “mileage speaks to condition.” Probably not too much of a story when the bike has just 2,977 miles on the odometer [naturally, not pictured]. And I’m sure there are more and better photos available upon request for serious, interested parties. Right? Right? All joking aside, this appears to be a very nice machine and, if you’re looking for a bike to add to a static collection, seems to be priced fairly. These were built in greater numbers overall than some of the other, technically rarer bikes we feature here on the site, but are hugely desirable, iconic machines and are seldom found in such pristine, low-mile condition.

Red logo on the tank and RC30 printed on the tail. The mark of the best of the run. I also remember in 1990, Honda ran magazine ads with the new Red VFR750F on one page stating “inside every one of these” -turn the page to an RC30 glamour shot – “is one of these screaming to get out”
