1992 Honda NSR250SP MC21 California Titled & Plated

This isn’t the best looking NSR but it is a California plated example!  Located in Las Vegas, Nevada is a Honda NSR250SP that isn’t original but does have the magical California title and plate.  This bike was originally a Rothmans replica bike but currently wears Tyga and Airtech fiberglass painted black and orange.  The bike does have a Tyga stainless expansion chamber and aluminum silencer, Tyga air filter, carbon fiber reed cage & reeds and the frame & swing arm have been polished.  The seller dosen’t mention an asking price.  This bike dosen’t have the original plastics but I think the title and registration far out weigh the cosmetic downfalls–plastics can be found, titles cannot.  If you’d like a registered SP, see the bike on Craigslist here.

1993 Honda NSR250R MC21

Located in Tallahassee, Florida is a track-only 1993 Honda NSR250R.  This bike isn’t titled or registered however it looks to be a very clean track bike with recent service and a good spares package.  The recent work listed is:

-New fork seals and fluid (wipers/dust)
-Carbs cleaned and soaked
-Replaced reeds (Boyesen)
-New Battery
-New Reg/rec
-Fresh Paint job

The MC21 NSRs are pretty dependable without an ignition card but don’t support the sexy single sided swing-arm of the MC28.  Some information on MC21s:

Unveiled in late 1989 as the new 1990 model, the MC21 took the 2-stroke world by storm, and completely re-wrote the rule book on how a 250 2-stroke should be built. The craftsmanship was superb, and the new features were groundbreaking!

The MC21 now utilised the PGMIII ECU taken from the legendry RC30 superbike (only now being utilised in GP250 by official HRC NSR’s incidentally!!), and coupled to throttle position and gear position sensors, controls both the timing of the RC Valves, air correctors and ignition advance to give outstanding low end tractability. The PGM-III features a true 3D ignition and a different map for each cylinder.

In keeping with their racer for the road image, the famous Gull-Arm rear swingarm was copied from the RS250 of Luca Cadalora, as was the frame design. Even the mounting point for a steering damper was kept in place! The body-styling was based on the 1988 and 1989 RS250’s, with just a few basic concessions like lights and a rear pillion seat!! The rear wheel diameter was decreased from 18″ to 17″ and widened to 4.5″ to run the latest tyre profiles and compounds.

This looks to be a clean NSR that would be a blast on the track. The asking price is $3,800; a decent price considering there are untitled, un-race-prepped bikes going for more.  See it on the WERA forum here.  See the dealer listing here.

1991 Honda NSR250 MC21

I must say I am surprised to see so many 2 strokes for sale as of late. I think this makes three that I’ve posted with-in the last week and that’s not to mention the others from Alex that he put up this week.

On to the good stuff- 91 MC21 with a mere 13,944 or 8,648 on the clock, which is way low for a bike of this year. As many of you may recognize this is not a factory color scheme, but is in fact a set of Chinese aftermarket bodywork. However, the seller states that he does have the original set that came with the bike, but discloses that it has some scrapes and scratches. He also states that the fit and finish on the aftermarket set is pretty good and was installed with no modification needed. I will say that is surprising to me!

Listing quote:

1991 nsr250 that was all original when I got it right down to the tires. I replaced the OEM plastic with Hong Kong plastic. Believe it or not it all fit very well with no modifications. I powder coated the rims and put new Pirelli tires, chain and sprockets, and brake pads and had the bike serviced with all new fluids and spark plugs. There is 150pound in each cylinder and the bike starts rite up and idles and runs great. I will include the original plastic with the sale and have included a pic of it on the bike. It has some blemishes so I went with the repsol look. It has the original Japan title. It is not registered in the USA but the VIN is present. Everything works on the bike all lights injection system and even the horn.

Sounds like this could be a nice one considering everything works and is un-modified. I’m not a huge fan of aftermarket parts on rare sport bikes, but this one doesn’t strike me too far off base. The “low mileage and all original” more than make up for the Hong Kong addition. So if this sounds like your cup of Tea, click the ebay link above and have a look at the rest of the pictures. The seller has his phone number listed for those who are interested.

Cheers!

1993 Honda NSR250R MC21 False Alarm!

UPDATE: This listing is either a scam or borrowing pictures that aren’t of the actual bike for sale. We know because the bike in the pictures was listed on this site and the actual owner is a friend of RSBFS. Anthony informs me that his bike is not for sale and he’s flagging the listing.

Located in Ballard, Washington is a titled and registered Honda NSR250 MC21.  The seller doesn’t list much information but, if you’re looking for a NSR, you know what this is and where to find him.  Lastly, the asking price seems a fair $5,500 depending on miles and condition–which look to be low and excellent.  See the Craigslist ad here.

Located in San Diego, California is an untitled 1991 Honda NSR250.  This bike needs a battery and new rings for the rear cylinder (safe to say a whole new top end).  This bike needs work and isn’t titled but it is priced fairly at $2,800.  If you have mechanical and great people skills, this could be the bike for you.  See the bike on Craigslist here.

1991 Honda NSR250 MC21

Since becoming an author on RSBFS, I have become more interested in 2 strokes.  I have always been a huge fan of the limited production 4 stroke race bikes, but I can see myself picking one of these up real soon.

MC 21 on with no reserve and a starting bid of $3200.

MC 21 1MC 21 4MC 21 2MC 21

With 12,584 miles on the clock this one is used and ready to ride.  The pictures show some wear and tear, but I did a quick search and the starting price seems to be market correct when considering the condition.  The plus is this one appears to have the ever elusive registration that was current up until yesterday.  The seller posted a lot of pictures on ebay that show some of the age marks; you can  to view them.  This one is not a garage queen so it can be ridden without fear of someone scratching it.

The seller didn’t have much to say about the bike so I won’t post up any quotes, but the one thing I did notice about this particular MC 21 and that is it comes with the aftermarket “go fast stickers!”

1993 Honda MC 21se buy-it-now $5250.00!

Holy Cow Batman!

I’ll admit that I don’t know squat about 2 strokes other than they are rarely seen on streets in the U.S larger than 49cc.  I know there are some that slipped past the BMV, but they are rare.  And when I do hear one my ears perk up rather quickly to get a glimpse of what it is.  This seems like a total steal to me at $5250.00, especially being tagged in Florida.

MC 21 3MC21MC21 2

The seller doesn’t say much about it, but it pretty much speaks for itself.
