Spanish motorcycling manufacturer Derbi is largely unknown here in the US, but the company has long and storied racing resume, with a number of World Championships in the smaller displacement classes. The Derbi GPR50 Malossi Replica or “Grand Prix Replica” was the company’s first fully-faired roadbike, a learner-friendly 50cc machine with oddly sophisticated specifications: it featured oil-injection and liquid-cooling for the little two-stroke engine, a six-speed gearbox, an aluminum twin-spar frame, 17″ wheels, and upside-down forks. The big-bike styling and tiny engine meant plenty of space under the “gas tank” that can be used for storing groceries or a helmet, with the actual fuel residing in a centrally-mounted fuel cell, with filler access under the locking pillion seat. Stock, the engine is good for just 6hp and 65mph, although the bike’s light weight means surprising performance. In the corners, anyway.

Derbi GPR50 this Spanish built oil injected street legal 2 stroke has a 6spd transmission. The bike has an Airsal 75cc kit, bigger carb and full Arrow exhaust. It will easily do 70mph but is registered as a moped. I have serviced the bike with new wheel bearings, repacked swingarm bearings, bled the brakes and serviced the calipers. Carb has been cleaned and the motor fogged for storage. New battery and the 17inch Pirelli tires are in good condition. I had to replace the speedo with a used unit from eBay.
The bike is in pretty good shape ;however some of the tabs on the bottom of the fairing are broken, there are the expected small scratches and a chip or 2. The rear seat cover needs a new key as its not the original. Its complete but not a show bike .
These bikes are considered full size and are a lot of fun to ride. It is currently in California and registered in Washington state stored in a garage with my other bikes.
There’s currently a second Derbi GPR50 Malossi Replica currently listed on eBay, believe it or not. It’s a bit nicer and has just 20 miles on the odometer, but it’s also twice the price, and we’ve featured it in the past. It also lacks this one’s massive 75cc “big-bore” kit that should put power into the 10hp range, making this the hot rod of the pair. This would be a ton of fun for a minimum outlay of cash and a great tool for terrorizing your local backroads or kart tracks.

Bummed this came and went so quickly. 2-stroke trackbike are joy but are rarebirds. The 75cc really elevates what you can do with this at a kart track. The 50cc makes it to hard to keep up. I hope the new owner puts this to good use.
how many of this sport production series where built?
