The seller doesn’t give much detail but you should know what you’re looking at if you’re in the market for a RZ500! Located in Fresno, California is a Yamaha RZ500. I’m going to wager a guess this is street registered but give the seller a call before someone else does! The asking price is $7,000; which would put it at the lower end of the street registered market. If this is as clean as it looks, has low miles and is registered, don’t wait to snap this up! See it on Craigslist here. For a nice little history lesson on the RZ500, see this website here.

Update: This posting is pretty outdated. Check out some of these current listings on eBay for bikes and parts right now!

This bike, with the right mods and the right rider could and would humilate any current sportbike of the modern era. Nothing in its day, short of the RG500 Gamma could hold a candle to it’s amazing abilites. If you never rode a 2 stroke streetbike that actually handled, you have no frame of reference.
I too, have never ridden this bike, but have owned several RD400’s modified with almost evey trick part you could buy. all else being unobatinum. In it’s day even the mighity KZ900 was left in the dust by a small 2 stroke 400 on the twisties of southern California. This bike can only be even more breathtaking and on a track, OH My GOD!!!!!
I envy the men that got to ride such a machine. Kenny Roberts, Eddie Lawson, Wayne Rainy, John Konsinski and others that made this RD500 the street bike it is.
If I had the coin, I would snap this up in a big hurry. There will never be anything like a 2 stroke 500cc GP machine available for the street and history is passing us by.
