In the era before 200hp, bat-winged superbikes and 1400cc v-twin supernakeds, there were bikes like today’s 1981 CB900F Super Sport, a simple long-stroke 901cc inline four matched to a five-speed gearbox, with upright ergonomics and a very portly 570lb wet weight. Racing a beast like this would have required courage and some real muscle! Handling was relatively primitive but power, while modest by today’s standards, should be plenty for keeping ahead of modern traffic, with ample torque and great flexibility. A great bike for showing, cruising, touring, or even vintage racing in that strikes your fancy. It’s relatively rare too, especially in this condition, and was made for just a couple years before being replaced by the CB1100.
SELLER
Reducing my collection down to something a little more manageable for me. First up is my 1981 Honda CB900F. The bike is in overall great condition. This is a survivor as everything appears to be original with the exception of the paint. There was definitely a respray sometime in the not too distant past as the paint looks very good. The remainder of the parts appear OEM. I purchased this bike 3 years ago to add it to my Honda “collection” (pictured) and have kept it in a climate-controlled space since. The bike runs and rides perfectly and I recently rode it from Louisiana to Barber Motorsport Park for the Barber Vintage. 1000+ mile trip with no issues. Tires are in great condition and the bike needs nothing at this point. There is a small scratch on the tank and some light pitting on some of the chrome parts (as you would expect in a 43 year old bike) but she shows fine otherwise. Please feel free to ask any questions and I am willing to setup a FaceTime with any potential buyer to go over the bike with you live. Thank you.
The Seller is asking just $4750 for this very clean example with just over 23,000 miles. As the seller points out: it isn’t absolutely perfect, with some pitting and corrosion. But the resprayed paint looks great and it appears to be very clean and well-kept. The perfect bike to round out a classic Honda collection, or for someone looking to pick up a reliable classic on a limited budget.

Always liked the 900F. It’s styling has held up very well through the years.
Hard to beat the ageless styling of a classic Honda. Clean, simple, and effective. Nothing unnecessary added. I’ve owned a few from the era and have never been disappointed with the look or the performance. Maybe it’s my age, but these old Hondas take me back to my misspent youth and simpler times. Carefree living, open roads, and Honda reliability. The nostalgia hits hard and that is a good thing.
An absolutely timeless machine, it turned heads in ’81 and it’ll do the same thing today 43 yrs later. Its not perfect, but for 4k, an expense I could easily justify, money well spent. Just don’t tell my wife…
