Brit Bike – 2004 Triumph Daytona Special Edition

This rather nice Triumph has one great paint job. OK being English I am biased but I always love this flag draped over the front of the bike. This Triumph is a 4 cylinder bike with fuel injection, of course now Triumph are famous for their triples, even so this is a Hinckley Triumph. This Daytona was renowned for being a great handling bike and has proved a favorite with track day enthusiasts in the UK. With 110bhp coming from the engine it also managed to get up and go.

The owner gives us some detail here and also is kind to point out the damage.

FOR SALE IS AN 2004 TRIUMPH DAYTONA 600 SPECIAL RACING EDITION (VERY RARE) CLEAN TITLE, NEVER BEEN WRECKED. RIGHT FRONT FAIRING HAS MINOR COSMETIC DAMAGE. BIKE HAS LITTLE OVER THAN 11,000 MILES, RUNS AND RIDES PERFECTLY. NEW TIRES AND NEW BRAKES, AFTERMARKET MUFFLER, EVERYTHING ELSE IS ORIGINAL PARTS.

$4200, AND THAT IS A STEAL FOR SURE. TITLE IN HAND. NOT EXCEPTING TRADES.

The eBay auction can be found here.

I think $4200 is a good price perhaps a little on the top end but this is a very nice bike with a sensible mileage and you have to love the paintwork.

Always a thing of beauty – 2004 Moto Guzzi V11 Coppa Italia

Moto Guzzi created the Coppa Italia in celebration of Moto Guzzi taking part in the Italian naked bike championship of 2003.  All the special bits you would expect were used on the bike, Brembo brakes, Ohlins suspension as well as lightweight Brembo wheels.  The bike also has got a rather tasty tri-colore paint scheme that we often see from the Italians.

The owner shares the following:

LIMITED EDITION LOTS OF THE GOOD STUFF!
UNDER 50 IMPORTED TO US
2004 MOTO GUZZI V11 COPPA ITALIA SPORT
EXCELLANT  condition.  LIKE NEW STORED INDOORS
TITIANIUM EXHAUST KIT W/CDI BOX
ALL THE OEM STUFF INCLUDED (MUFFLER/CDI)
OLINS SUSPENSION & STEERING DAMPNER
TOOL KIT
RACESTAND
OWNERS MANUAL
Please take a close look at all of the pictures and ask any necessary questions before bidding

The eBay auction can be found here

As for price I personally always think these are a bargain. At $6300 it has not yet met its reserve so one has to wonder how much higher.  Perhaps $7500 but it is a limited edition bike!

Be quick – 1992 Yamaha FZR600

Your chance to grab a special little bike but you will have some work to do. This is a 92 example which hasn’t been run for a while but as the seller points out the engine turns over. Could be a mechanics bargain. The Genesis frame made the bike look like a real racer and handle well. Unlike its bigger brother the 600 used a 4 valve head rather than the 5 valve head of the 1000cc bikes. By the way that is a dummy tank, the real one sits low behind the cylinder head between the frame rails to lower the centre of gravity.

The seller shares some details:

THIS IS A 1992 YAMAHA FZR 600 MOTORCYCLE.
NO TITLE-SORRY. PREVIOUS OWNER’S BROTHER LEFT IT IN HIS GARAGE 15 YEARS AGO AND NEVER CAME BACK FOR IT.
SHOULD BE ABLE TO RETITLE IT ONLINE THROUGH A TITLE COMPANY SINCE IT HASNT BEEN REGISTERED FOR LIKE 15 YEARS.
THE BIKE RAN AND RODE FINE PRIOR TO THAT BUT IT HAS BEEN SITTING UNTOUCHED INSIDE THE GARAGE FOR 15 YEARS.
BIKE IS COMPLETELY STOCK ORIGINAL FROM WHAT I CAN SEE EXCEPT IT HAS A VANCE AND HINES MUFFLER.
MOTOR MOVES. THROTTLE MOVES. FORK SEALS ARE LEAKING A BIT.
PLEASE SEE THE PICTURES, THIS BIKE IS IN REALLY GOOD SHAPE FROM BEING IN THE GARAGE ALL THESE YEARS . KEY IS IN THE IGNITION
GREAT PROJECT FIXER UPPER OR PARTS BIKE OR RACE IT.
ITS ALL THERE.
BEING SOLD AS-IS, HASN’T RUN IN 15 YEARS. RAN WHEN PUT AWAY. MOTOR MOVES.

The auction can be found here on eBay.

Not sure what this will fetch given the fact that the motor has not run for so long but certainly if you know what you are doing this looks to be a very clean bike.  Be quick not much of the auction left.

Fast by Ferracci – 1998 Ducati 916 Corsa

There certainly are not too many of these about.  A 1998 916R which apparently is a Corsa factory bike.  Now that would be tough to believe except this is a FBF bike but for those who know about Eraldo Ferracci and his relationship with Ducati, there would be little doubt that this beauty came from the Corsa part of the factory.  While designated a 916 the engine is actually a 996cc unit which eventually was in all the bikes and they became the 996.  The seller has very little to say about the bike however a look through the pictures and you can see loads of carbon fibre, Ohlins, Brembo monoclocs etc.  I love the picture of the shower injectors, these were designed to supply the engine with fuel in the upper rev ranges in order that it could make the high end power it needed to.  The 916 Corsa was never road legal unlike latter R designated bikes. This bikes had 60mm throttle bodies and made 151bhp at 11,000 rpm straight from the factory, while weighing 155kg (342 lbs) dry.  As for rare, according to Ian Falloon, only 18 of these bikes were made in 1998.  It really is a part of Ducati history.

The seller only has a little to say:

Fast By Ferracci ’98
Factory Ducati Corsa 916R
996cc
Wide Adjustable triple tree. Shower injectors.
Thumb brake
PI Research LTD Data Acquisition sys. / Marchesini / Ohlin’s / Brembo
Magnesium, Titanium, Carbon Fiber

The auction can be found here on eBay.

You can see the bike running here and if I am not mistaken the grey haired gentleman is Eraldo himself:

At $28k this is not cheap but compare that to 999R prices.  Ok so this is not road legal but even so what a bike for the money.

A sporty little number – 1988 Honda VFR400R

Almost missed this auction for a 1988 VFR400R. The bike cosmetically could be a bit better but just imagine how much fun you could have on this little beauty. This was designated the NC24 as the second generation of the bike which was the first Honda to a Pro-Arm singled sided swing arm which went on to become a trademark of the VFR range of bikes.  The singled sided arm was an ELF design who were experimenting with single sided arms for both front and rear suspension.

The owner doesn’t share a great deal so I would suggest a careful look over the bike:

has a few minor scrapes in the plastic but overall in good shape,,  comes with a additional upper fairing & seat cowl..  bike does everything it was designed to do.   turn the key go.   pick it up if your down for the holidays  or  i can work with your shipper.   will have some additional pics in a day or two.    not perfect but nice considering the age ( cosmetically speaking).   mechanically very good!!   not sure of the yea,,. i will have to take a look at the title when i get home     thanks..
18500 km on the odometer

You can find the eBay auction here

No one has bid on this bike yet and so you may perhaps pick it up relatively cheaply but you should inspect it as the V4 engine can be complex and potentially expensive if it hasn’t been looked after.  Could be some fun though!  No bids and starting at $3250, hmmm….

Boxer Cup Replica – 2005 R1100S

You will have seen a short time ago a posting of an original race bike that was tagged in Florida.  If riding risky is not your thing then here we have a Replica Cup bike that is fully street legal and looks the part to boot.  The Boxer Cup was a one make race series sponsored by BMW for the Boxer twin and the replica cup bikes were meant to be a road going example.  As with any sports bike this example has been chipped and the exhaust done to get more power form the engine.  Less than 300 were imported into the USA so there is a good chance you won’t stumble across another at bike night. This is a twin spark bike making 98hp and 78 ft/lbs of torque, when stock,  all run through BMW’s 6 speed box with low 6th ratio. By utilizing front fork tubes from the R1150GS, the chassis of the 2005 Replika is raised by 12mm, thus allowing for a greater lean angle. Seat height on the 2005 Boxer Cup Replika is 860 mm (33.9 inches). SO you may want to check your leg length as it is tall to ensure the cylinder heads don’t scrape the tarmac.

The owner shares the following few words:

Beautiful 2005 BMW R1100S Boxer Cup Rep. Arguably the best, and the best looking, of the BCR’s, this one is in beautiful condition. Dealer maintained, with all service records to accompany bike.Catalytic converter removed, and the bike is equipped with performance chip for extra performance. Original exhaust and chip will be included with bike. Carbon fiber tank center panel added. Original blue panel will also come with bike. Mechanically outstanding. Dealer performed 12000 mile service before the start of the riding season. Cosmetically beautiful, with only one minor flaw. Right side carbon fiber valve cover with nicked when he was moving the bike in the garage. The actual metal valve cover was undamaged. Replace it if it bothers you, or repair it with a little epoxy. Or do what I did- leave it! I’ve owned the bike a little over 3 years and only put 4000 miles on it. Time to let someone else enjoy this bike and ride it as often as it should be ridden!

And if you fancy your chances the auction on eBay is here.

The Buy It Now price is set at $6250, which seems somewhat of a bargain as the engine only has just over 11,000 miles on it as they often command upwards of $8000 with examples going for over $10,000.  Fancy something different in your garage then go ahead and make a bid.

Hailwood homage – 2002 Ducati MH900e

I often wonder how someone can buy such a gorgeous bike and not ride it.  Personally I can’t do that I have to get out and experience the pleasure of riding them as they were meant to.  Having said that here we have a low mileage Ducati which is not even run in.  Originally created as a concept motorbike in 1998 the Mike Hailwood 900 Evoluzione (hence the name) drew great responses such that Ducati put it into production in 2000 and 2001.  It was Pierre Terblanche’s homage to the NCR race bikes that Hailwood raced so successfully at events like the TT.  There were actually 2,010 bikes produced and while this is shown as a 2002 model it will actually have been produced in 2001.  It draws mixed reactions with not everyone liking it but Terblanche certainly did a good job.

The MH 900e was offered for sale on the internet only to commemorate Mike Hailwood’s return from retirement and subsequent win of the F1 championship at The Isle of Mann. A total of 2000 were produced with 200 coming here to the States. These bikes were offered for sale on 01/01/2000 (the first day of the new millenium), completely sold out in 2 hours; and the wait for delivery was usually two years. This is #647 of 2000 produced. Using the air-cooled fuel-injected 900SS V-twin engine, 6-speed transmission, Ducati produced one of the most beautiful motorcycles ever made and also one of the most collectible. This bike has had one Texas owner, is completely original, and has only 114 actual miles. It runs perfectly, has no issues, and is museum-quality perfect. The factory commemorative plaque, owner’s manual, purchase order, display stand, and Ducati brochure are all included.

The auction on eBay can be found here.

These bikes are still maintaining their value with the two most recent going for $16,500 and $17,500 but one had zero miles and the other 3!  So I would expect this to do well given it only has 114 miles.

Simple 2 valve twin – 1987 Cagiva SS650

OK so I am sure some of you are wondering why this is up as a rare sports bike well it was priced under the era when Cagiva owned Ducati and this used the 650 Ducati engine. In fact only 500 of these bikes ever made it to the US..  It was from a time when Ducati was in transition having had huge financial problem and been saved by the Cagiva purchase.  The Pantah engine which is used here was getting tired and not long after these venture Cagiva went back to using the Ducati name and the company introduced the 851.  The reset as they say its history.  However this part of the Ducati heritage should not be overlooked.  The parts used were high quality and you have to love the Silentium exhausts which were anything but!

650cc…..5 speed…..Brembo brakes…..

On the block:1987 Ducati/Cagiva Aluzzurra SS 650……..Made by Ducati for the parent company Cagiva.Ducati engine,Ducati frame,Ducati decals,etc……..

In 1985 Ducati was purchased by the Castiglioni brothers (Cagiva),which was already the largest manufacturer in Italy(mainly small street bikes and mopeds),with the intention of entering into the sport bike market. The Aluzzurra SS650 was an upgrade of the defunct Pantah.

“Gone are the swoopy paint, flashy lines and radical seating position of the Pantah,” Rider said in its March 1985 review. “Instead, the Alazzurra has been designed to appeal to a far broader spectrum of riders … Whereas the Pantah was an outrageous Italian flashbike, a mini machomobile, the Alazzurra is a sensuous rolling sculpture of tasteful and graceful proportions.”

Thankfully Cagiva realized the importance of the Ducati name, and restored the mark in 1987 with only the Elephant retaining the Cagiva name.

When I got this bike it hadn`t been riden much. The spark plugs were old,and the carbs were dirty, and not adjusted properly. I took it to my mechanic who removed/cleaned/adjusted both Dellorto carbs. Installed new NGK plugs, and a new battery. Charging system works excellent.

I drove it about 40 miles. The more I drove it the better it ran.Fast and nimble.Trans/clutch are like they should be.Lots of fun for a cheap price!

Note:Sold as-is.This is a 25 yr old bike so expect wear. Look at all the BIG pictures. I`m sure I missed a ding-scratch-crack-blem or whatever so ask questions. Will need tires soon.Good tread but old. Smokes SOMETIMES when first started. The more I drive it the less it happens. No extra parts. There are e-bay listing for lots of Cagiva parts.

The eBay action is here.

This might just be a cracking bargain for someone with it no doubt going for a small sum.
