Being the sucker for homologation Super Bikes that I am these get me amp’d up just as fast as any other.

996 Sport Production Specials are easy on the eyes and this one could be as equally easy on the wallet. I did a quick search in the RSBFS.com archives and these usually have a significantly higher asking price than this one.

Equipped from the factory with an Ohlins shock out back and Showa sliders up front, Brembo’s, racey solo tail and 124bhp these were the proverbial ‘sheeeet’ back in 1999. I lusted after the 916/996 throughout its production life, but that was as far as I could take it….a mere pipe dream. Oh, I’d take one now- grin from ear to ear and pretend like it was 1999 all over again if I wasn’t hell bent on 2 strokes right now.

IT LOOKS AND PERFORMS LIKE ITS BRAND NEW.

REMEMBER THIS IS THE VERY LIMITED 996 SPS (RECOMMENDED CLOSED COURSE RACING ONLY) BUT NEVER RACED.

I forgot to mention the SPS’s were equipped with 5 spokes versus the standard models 3 spokes. I think the 5 spokes look 2 spokes better than the 3 and are lighter as well.

Judging by the size of the chicken strips on the rear tire this one hasn’t been ridden too hard and it looks to be in great shape.
