1996 Kawasaki ZX-7RR N1 with only 762 miles and 100% stock!
Located in Marrero, LA is this pristine 7RR N1 Homologation Superbike. Since I started writing for RSBFS.com I’ve mentioned several times that my two favorite bikes are N1’s and FZR400 ‘s. The N1’s are the pinnacle for me and the 400 are a very, very distant second place. I’ve been in love with ZX7’s all my sportbike life, but have yet to own one. I’ve come very close to buying one, but have never pulled the trigger. When Les sent this one in today I was beside myself trying to decide whether I should post it or contact the seller and ask “what’s it going to take to put that in my garage?” But, since I have a better half, I decided to run it by her and see what the reaction would be. Not much to my surprise, there was a lot of mumbling, a few choice words about me and my bikes, I also heard something about diamonds, but couldn’t quite make it out. Needless to say, I’m posting it instead of contacting the seller.
I’m guessing most people would agree, even if you aren’t a Kawasaki fan, that the 7RR’s have something about them that says ‘I’m fast’. The design is aggressive and it has a certain flare about it that no other bike, in my opinion, has. These came from the factory with adjustable swing arms, adjustable steering head and 41mm flatslide carbs. The N1’s didn’t get the luxury of the aluminum gas tank like the previous years, but as mentioned did have more adjustable parts which included better suspension. If you are unfamiliar with Team Green Machines here are a few of my favorite websites that talk extensively about the 7R/7RR’s. First up is the evolution of Kawasaki’s Homologation Supebike. Next up is one of my favorite ‘eye candy’ sites regarding my favorite Superbike.
The seller didn’t put many pictures up on the auction so you’ll have to contact him should you be interested in seeing more.
Quotes from the auction:
SUPER RARE!!!!! 1996 KAWASAKI ZX7RR IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH ONLY 762 MILES!!!! BEAUTIFUL !!!!!!!! EVERTHING IS ORIGINAL FACTORY
Okay, so not many pictures and not much to say, but in all actuality what can he say other than “Sweet and being sold as new!” I have to believe if I didn’t just buy another 400 I’d be in the ring, but as it sits I’m out on this one. It is being offered with a starting bid of $8,000.00 and I have to believe the reserve is somewhere around $10,000.00. Hopefully, this one will be bought and enjoyed or put in a museum for everyone to enjoy.
Cheers!

Doug,
I need your advice on this listing. I too covet the 96 ZX7RR. I live in CA. I have been looking on Craigslist and buying Cycletraders for the last two years. I haven’t found a thing. I just found out about your site two months ago. Now I look at it everyday. I have never thought about anything out of state. All of the pictures for this bike look great, but everyones pictures look great. What would you do if your wife had said yes?
Be careful with the mileage, it may or may not be accurate. I find it hard to believe that no miles were put on this bike since it does not seem to be part of a collection or on display. Furthermore, look at the rear seat pad and it shows a lot of wear for the mileage claimed.
I like this bike, but 8K is a bit crazy for this bike. I’d say $6K tops assuming mileage is accurate.
Buyer beware
Pablo-
I’ve looked at the pics several times now and I can’t see any wear. If anything it looks like a reflection to me. I know 8g’s is a lot, but we listed a 91 K1 that sold for 9,800 last fall with 7k+ miles on it. If it was listed with no reserve I feel it would be selling at 8k.
Doug,
I thought for sure since you put the RZ up first you were going to buy this bike. The seller added some pics (not great quality) I think the seller is scaring off potential buyers with the lack of information, if you remember the K1 had a ton of great pics.
I completely agree about the K1. It was so well documented and photographed the seller made you want to buy it from him. The seller of this one isn’t doing himself any favors. Some HR pics, a video, history… anything!
That is not a reflection, it is very clear wear on the seat. I own a 92 K2 with about 7K miles and there is absolutely no wear there…I am going to call BS on the mileage.
Now I see it! The riders left side corner and in the middle. Good eye! I just glanced at it and thought it was a reflection on the shiny seat, but it is in fact worn off.
There is wear on the back rest, is that piece just foam on this model? or is it upholstery? If that is foam it would wear quickly, especially if you raced the bike. You would think a guy with a Range Rover & a BMW could afford a good camera. If I were bidding I’d like to see some better pics, I would probably go see this bike before I’d commit, but since I’m not looking to buy an N model I’d just advise caution to anyone who is. Still no bids so it may be priced just a little to high.
Is is priced VERY HIGH, I know of someone who just purchased one in perfect condition with a Muzzy titanium full system for $5,500 with about 5K REAL miles. I would place this bike at no more than $6K and again, the mileage is VERY questionable in my opinion..
