A low mileage ’91 VFR750F in Washington state!
Bike: 1991 Honda VFR750F-M (RC36)
Location: Bothell, Washington
Mileage: 3,950mi
Price: $3,395USD
Honda marketing labeled the VFR as a “sportbike for all seasons” and “an entire garage full in one bike”. These VFR’s were designed to be just as usable as a canyon carver, sport-tourer, and daily rider. The bike retained race derived components such as the 16-valve V-4, Pro-Arm single sided swing-arm, twin piston brakes and a dual spar aluminum perimeter frame.
I find these earlier VFR’s–third and fourth generation–to be the best looking of the standard production VFR line. The seller doesn’t state much other than that this bike is all original. From the minuscule Craigslist photos, it looks to be in very good condition as I would expect for a bike of this mileage. This bike does look to have bronze wheels. While I’ve only seen these red examples with white wheels, this could be from the factory–anyone care to comment? The price is higher than most for a second-gen’ VFR but considering mileage and condition, it isn’t too out of line.
See the bike on Craigslist here.

The 1990’s had white wheels, and all 1991’s came with gold (was supposed to ‘match’ the caliper color).
That price is outrageous to me, but I’ve owned 5 different VFRs over the last 15 years and have never paid more then $1500 for one. The mileage is a negative unless it’s just going to sit in a non-running collection, everything’s dried out from non-use and leaks will be common if it’s ever pushed into real use. It’s just sad to see Such a good motorcycle neglected like that.
’90 – White
’91 – Gold
’92 = (Metallic Gray)
I spoke to the owner who said he was the 3rd owner of the bike and bought it when his friend fell on some hard times. As with most things, there was “a story” of how the bike fell over on the right side cracking the fairing and scratching the paint (which explains the small pictures). If I want a story, I’ll call my mom. I think I was done when he said you could buy a new fairing for 3-4 hundred dollors brand new and painted from Honda (if that’s true, I’ll take ten of them)
i agree entirely that 4k for this bike is just silly. seeing very nice examples of the 98-01 version down here in sd for as little as 2900.
Owned an ’86 VFR 750 and a VF1000R. Bought one of these new in ’91. One of the best Honda’s I’ve owned. Very strong, great build quality, just a beautiful bike. Truly did every thing really well. Alot of money for a 20 year old bike tho…
This guy’s stoned if he thinks he can sell it for that. It’s a beautiful bike, but no one should pay that kind of money. Dropped, cracked fairing, owner saying something silly like you can buy painted fairings from Honda for 3-4 hundred say it all. Smoke another. Move on folks….unless he drops it to 2K
I just picked up a 91 from the original owner. Actually in almost excellent condition. Just one small 2 inch crack on right side of rear plastic (unnoticeable). It does have 44k miles, though very well maintained and not abused. All stock except upgraded Sargent seat. I don’t think I can find one scratch on the brilliant red paint.
I have it up for $2700 on CL, but will go $2500 for someone off this site.
Thanks
I have owned my 1991 Honda VFR750F Interceptor (new) since 1992 and it is in perfect (…read mint…) condition. New tires (2 sets), fork seals and voltage regulator (over-heating of original design); as well as, properly maintained and stored in heated garage year in and year out and it has 10K miles on it. I also ride two HawkGT’s and a couple of different HD’s. The bike is worth the money but a dropped one should not get the price listed. My 2 cents…
The voltage regulator was failing on mine. I didn’t want to deal with it so I sold it for $1900 (due to the high mileage). Additionally I found a great deal on a 94 Yamaha YZF750R with 20k miles for only $1500. I enjoyed it for a couple months, gave it a much needed paint job (since it was all black, with poor quality stenciled graphics) and sold it for $2700.
