Well this is a cool bit of racing memorabilia, World Supberbike superstar Carl Fogarty’s race-winning Ducati fairing, hand-signed by Foggy himself.
Not only was Carl Fogarty one of the most famous riders in World Superbike history as well as the most successful, this bit is from the bike he won his very last race on, to lock in his fourth championship for Ducati. The very next year, he was involved in a career-ending crash although he was later active as a race team owner and manager.
Famous for being ruthlessly competitive and very outspoken, you can also see he was very… left-handed from that signature’s slant.
From the original eBay listing: Carl Fogarty’s Championship Winning Ducati 996 Hand Signed Fairing
Up for auction is a very unique and interesting piece of motorcycle racing history!
Carl Fogarty won 4 World Superbike Championships and this is the fairing of his Ducati 996 after he clinched his 4th WSB title at Hockenheim in 1999. It is hand signed and still has the bugs from that final race plastered all over the fairing.
Foggy retired in 2000 as the winning-est rider in Superbike history with 59 wins, 109 podiums and four world championships.
Good luck…
The starting bid is $6,9995 with no takers as yet and 4 days left on the auction. I’ve really no idea if that’s a fair price or not, since it’s not the kind of item that comes up for sale too often. Certainly, Carl Fogarty is one of the biggest names in the history of WSBK competition, and the signed fairing from the bike he used to win his fourth championship title is something any race fan would want.
This is the second time the fairing has been posted on eBay, and the first ended with no takers as well. Is the seller asking too much, or has it just not found the right buyer yet?

This is really big nonsence I think.
If not, my RC51 signed by Colin Edwards would cost $20,000 ???
This carbon front fairing is rare item, but to be fair, it is still just only front fairing which cost $200 + $100 screen. So the signature is $6,600 ?
You can buy Fogarty signed photo for $50.
Message for seller? Man, come down from a moon on our planet.
Those factory corse upper fairings went for crazy money back in the day. $800 sticks in my head. And the corse screen wasn’t cheap either. With the history of the part it has value, but not 7k. Oh wait factory stickers!!! Forgot them. Give me a Bayliss fairing instead. He was the man!!
The 1999 x 4 is a cool touch
I could buy a complete running 1994-1996 Ducati 916 for $7K! No World Superbike memorabilia markets for anything close to this asking price- he’s fishing.
Well, it’s not just a random 916 fairing with a signature, it’s the actual one from his race-winning bike. Historically significant for sure. Worth that much money? That’s the question.
It would seem not that many people realize one thing, some people DO value memories and the reminders of it, I watched Casy Stoner win his `08 Moto Gp year and decided to hunt down a D16 RR, it took a bit, but I have it and I`m happy, If my son sells it when it belongs to him, I hope he makes a tidy profit on it, THAT is why people collect and keep – or sell… Good luck to the guy with his Foogy race fairing, not quite what I`d buy, but each to his own.
For that money l would want proof that it was signed by Fogarty and proof that it is a genuine Ducati race fairing…
& l still wouldn’t pay that much for it anyway……
That should be easy to prove. Ask him to spell HOCKENHEIM. If he misspells it, as it is spelled incorrectly on that fairing, you know you have the right guy.
I wouldn’t pay this much, but it is one of a kind and extraordinarily difficult to put a value on. Btw, anyone who says a CF front fairing only costs $200 is a moron. For a BARE corse one you are looking at 2 or 3 times that (no windscreen). Original race paint on a round-winning, championship-#1-wearing WEB raced by a legend? The gale has to be well into the thousands.
enough with rarefairingsforsale.com… this aint a bike
What the hell happened to this site????? Maybe I’ll throw in another 2 grand for some Foggy skidmarked unddies… Or perhaps a condom, used of course , with the real D.N.A. in it… Get back on track, dammit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Saw the listing both times. I’m actually a collector of this kind of stuff. Have over 300 such things but it’s all going to a free fan museum I’m working on. Have fairings from Bayliss, Bostrom, Xaus, Corser, Hayden, Gobert, etc., plus many more and that’s just for Ducatis. Racebike parts are difficult to price but 7k is a HUGE markup from street value. One of Foggy’s tail sections just sold this morning from eBay in Europe for about 450 euros which is much, much more reasonable. The only time you really see insane prices is when parts or gear is sold for charity auctions such as Day of Champions/Riders for Health. That’s more about the charity than the actual piece being sold.
