The Honda RC51 should need no introduction. Even the most causal superbike fan has heard the story of the RC51 duking it out with the best that Ducati had on offer. The racing was amazing, the stories were incredible and the road going versions were a beautiful thing to experience. The RC30 and RC45 before it are super sought after collectables and now is the time for the RC51 to shine. 133hp V-Twin will still put a smile on your face today.
Today’s example is one of the last years of production, and one of the more desirable editions. The livery was to honor the success Nicky Hayden had on track with the superbike racing Hondas. Not only is it hard to find a clean example of an RC51 today, it is even harder to find bike with low miles. It is not uncommon to find an RC51 on the market with over 30k miles on the clock. That really is a testament to the quality of the bikes. With only 322 miles this bike will be sure to be placed in a collection and not ridden much, if at all.
No signs of use, damage or issues can be seen in the pictures. Refreshing to see fairings without holes cut for sliders, or colored levers installed. Only departure from stock is the addition of a Staintune exhaust that is sure to be music to one’s ears. Seller states that the original exhaust is included. While the bike was never titled, it is said to come with the original MSO and while the listing claims that might be an issue for the new owner. After a quick bit of research, there should be no issues at the DMV, but maybe some funny looks.
From The Seller’s eBay Listing:
Up for grabs is this pristine RC51 with 322 original miles. Bike has always been stored in climate-controlled garage. This is about as perfect condition as you can find. This RC51 is pretty much flawless. The prior owner put the Staintune Exhaust. It also comes with the original exhaust, original owner’s manual, and tool kit. The bike was part of an estate. The prior owner never titled the bike. It still has the original MCO signed over to the prior owner. So, getting the bike titled could be an issue. I started to file for a bonded title but all of our local offices were closed. I’m going to offer the bike here on eBay to the highest bidder. The bike will be sold with a bill of sale only along with the MCO. There is a $150.00 deposit due if you win the auction. The balance can be paid in cash, “check 14 days to clear” or wire the funds. Third party payments like PayPal can be accepted however buyer is responsible for all third party fees from these type of companies. The Motorcycle is located in El Paso, Texas 79932 If you have any more questions or want more photos just let me know. Thank you.
As of posting the opening bid of $5,000 has been made, but as expected the reserve had is not met. Price for clean low mileage RC51s have been rocketing to the moon over the last year. They might even be a better buy then your favorite cryptocurrency. For years these bikes were massively undervalued so it should come as no surprise to anyone that the market needed to adjust. A bike that offers a link to HRC, completes a lineage of other amazing RC products as well as offering a fantastic connection to a historic era of superbike racing should be on everyone’s radar. What makes these even one step better is that the package comes wrapped with Honda reliability and general usability.
Please get the key off the top triple clamp…
