17 Years of Rare SportBikes For Sale
While we’ve been running this blog for just the past two years, the site itself has been around for an incredible 17 years—huge thanks to Dan for starting it all! We know many of you have been obsessed with rare machines since the first time a high-revving screamer zipped past you on the street.
Your head turned. Your jaw dropped. And you knew—that was your future.
There’s nothing quite like the thrill of seeing these bikes in motion—or better yet, riding one. Whether it’s the bark of a dry clutch on a Ducati SP, the shriek of a TZR250 at full tilt, or the unmistakable silhouette of an RC30 or OW01, these bikes represent a golden era of performance and passion.
From magnesium case covers and adjustable suspension to hand-welded frames and wild liveries, the details on these Italian exotics and Japanese legends keep us all coming back for more.
Here’s to more rare finds, great conversations, and the shared joy of chasing perfection on two wheels.

New T-Shirt Design
Red and I have talked about designing some cool t-shirts and hoodies. We have logo-wear already in the shop section of our site. But I’d like to create some designs that incorporate the sportbikes that we love.
What is your favorite rare sportbike? If we were to put one on a t-shirt for the site, which one should it be? I’ll keep a tally and find a few favorites that can be subjects for my next design assignment.
Please send your vote to riding[at]rare-ones.com
Sincerely – Red and LL

Excellent. And I haven’t seen a photo of an XZ550 for a long time, but I still don’t wish for mine to come back!
Congratulations! …and keep up the good work. I check every day to see what special bike y’all will showcase next.
@Patrick – Thanks for the enthusiasm! @Vince – It is always nice to hear from you!
Though Red did not get a street ride in yesterday, he did take our son for a ride on the dirt roads of VT.
Thanks, just out right now putting my brother’s ‘improved’ CBR1100XX through its paces on the local back roads, with mixed results.
