Clean ’91 Honda CBR1000F (Hurricane!)

Before the introduction of the legendary CBR900RR, the liter bike option from Honda was the CBR1000, or the Hurricane 1000 before Honda got all wussie about calling their sportbikes by cool names. Anyway, the CBR1000F is not the track ready, lightweight machines that the 900RR is, but it was a great all around liter bike if you wanted one that went fast and was comfortable. And also looked good.

This looks to be a clean bike with little in the way of any modifications and shiny paint. Here’s what the seller has to say:

For sale is my 1991 CBR1000F.  I’m the second owner of this bike and have had it since 1996. 

The mileage is low because I’ve always owned at least three bikes and rotate time on each, plus I don’t get to ride as much as I’d like. 

If you’re not familiar with the CBR1000, it has a great reputation for reliability and comfort.  It’s no light-weight, but the upside is it’s rock steady on the super slab and, if you take a passenger, you’ll barely notice.  It’s also fast, not Hayabusa fast, but it’ll get your attention when the tach gets above 6,000.  At 90mph it’s feels like smaller bikes at 60. 

It’s been well cared for with proper maintenance and winter storage, never abused and always garaged since it was new.  It is stock with the exception of stainless lines on the front brakes and the leather Corbin seat. (The Laminar Lip wind deflector is easily removed – and will be included with the sale.)  The carbs were serviced two years ago and the battery was replaced at that time.  The only cosmetic issue is seen in the photo of the left exhaust pipe. The original owner had dropped the bike on gravel and I never bothered to fix it. (I’m superstitious that way.) 

I would not hesitate to take this bike any distance as it sits right now.  It’s never let me down.  I’m north of 60 now and, quite frankly, it’s more motorcycle than I need these days.  I’d love to see it go to a rider who’d enjoy it as much as I have.  If kept in good condition, I can’t imagine that’s it’s value would do anything but go up as the years go by, but I’ll leave that to collectors to decide.

The seller describes the bike in good condition and with only minor modifications. The mileage is certainly low for the age and the only real cosmetic issue is the damage on the one pipe. It sounds like the bike has been well maintained and cared for, and that the seller simply wants to find it a new home.
