You read correctly, 1 mile on a 2002 RC51. This fine piece of Nicky Hayden history is . Yes, I know this is not a Nicky Hayden replica, but it is the year in which he won the AMA Super Bike Title on the RC51.
So why is this being listed on RSBFS.com? Well, it falls under the “Survivor” category for RSBFS.com.
The owner says:
Well how about a………………BRAND NEW MOTORCYCLE , A 2002 Honda RC51 RVT 1000cc 6-speed Red & Silver Metallic that is. So now this is it, this is your last chance to own a BRAND NEW RC-51 V-Twin liquid cooled Super Bike. This year model has the improved PGM-FI, (fuel injection system),suspension and swing arm, same as 2006 model. This bike is brand new, out of the crate, from the dealer to my garage. Not a mark, not a scratch, or even been sat on, no disappointments. Only 1 MILE from factory. Bike comes with owners manual, tool kit and a new oil filter. The battery is brand new, and the bike has been run periodically. This is a unmolested motorcycle, so why would you buy used and abused when you can have a BRAND NEW BIKE? I lost interest so my loss your gain. Serious Offers Considered
Honda no longer makes the RC51 so if you have a Honda Collection or simply have a thing for Japanese V-twins you definitely should give this one a look. It’s like stepping back in time to 2002. I had the opportunity to ride a 2002 demo model and was impressed by the linear power it produced. As a matter of fact, at the time I sold one of my FZR400’s and was going to buy a RC51, but then life happened and those plans fell through and I lost my FZR in the process 🙁

I would be interested to see this bikes history as, “one mile” is strongly unlikely. I do not know about RCs but, Ferraris odometers can be reset a restricted amount of times (I believe two–possibly three) to zero. I suspect that this odometer may be “faulty” as a motorcycle is delivered with twenty to thirty(+) miles. Please, correct me if I am wrong.

Someone tell me that this possible on a RC. The one I posted had two miles…anyone?
I wouldn’t think it would be too hard to obtain a bike 1 mile as long as you know someone at the dealership. It doesn’t seem to far fetched that you could offer to buy a bike at the dealership and simply tell them that you are going to collect it so please assemble it and let me push it on a trailer. Since new bikes have electronic speedo’s it doesn’t matter how many times you roll it around in your garage it won’t accumulate mileage. What do you think?
This bike is interesting. When I bought my old RC51, it had 3 miles on it at purchase. 1 mile from the factory and then the other two by the dealer who uncrated it. I’m not sure if other dealers “test” ride them before they sell or not but only 1 is odd.
Also, as a side note, 2002 was also the year Colin Edwards II won on this model in World Superbike. It is the year that went down as Edwards vs Bayliss. Other than Ben Spies’ championship this year, that was (if I remember correctly) the largest come back in WSBK ever. Edwards won the last 9 races of the season with the last race dubbed the “Showdown at Imola.” Youtube it. You won’t be disappointed. Edwards beat Bayliss that year showing they could challenge Ducati at their own game.
Here’s the youtube I mentioned.

Just to let you know I’m the owner of the 2002 Honda RC51 with only 1 mile on it. It has never been riden and was picked up at the shop and back to my house. Miles only accumilate when riden! This not a scam just someone parting with his dream bike! Life can be crule at times. Any questions and I willanswer them. Cheers.
Hey Phil-
Thanks for setting everyone straight and digging deep to find it!
[…] bike appears to be a re-post from 2009. I don’t know if the bike sold then. And being a 2002, there may be some question as to if […]
