“This bike is “Lance Gamma #1”
Sha-wing!
Pick this one up and I’d ask you- ‘Oh, you fancy huh?’ and your answer better be ‘Damn Skippy!’
I’ll be the first to say that I have the utmost respect for Rick Lance and what he has done for the big 2 strokes. Ricks commitment to the RG is second to none and it shows when you talk to him about his beloved RG 500’s. If you’ve never had the opportunity to speak to Mr. Lance Gamma himself you owe it to yourself to reach out. If you’d rather do a meet and greet I recommend attending the 2011 Lance Gamma Open House. I don’t believe there is a link to it yet, but I believe the date is Saturday, May 21st. I am hopeful to attend this years event on one of the NSR’s, but it’s still up in the air.
In stock trim the RG500 weighs in around 400lb’s and you could expect about 100hp. Although Ive (ashamed to say) never ridden a Gamma 500 I hear tales of power output doubling over a span of about 2,500rpm’s. My buddy in Cali always like to remind me that “there is power and then there is Gamma power!” I always get a chuckle out of it, but I can only imagine the rush of the square 4 getting on the pipe. I *think* after it becomes a Lance Gamma you can expect around 140hp and a much improved everything, but most importantly throttle response and power delivery. I know parts are getting hard to find for these and nothing is more difficult than bodywork, but I do know a few guys who hoard parts for these and there might be a brand new set of OEM lying around. Probably not for sale so don’t get your hopes up 🙂
I imagine it would look and feel something like this video:
After searching around I had to include this video as well… Nothing like seeing 4 stingers a puffing 🙂
Good luck with the sale Rick-
Cheers!

Let’s be honest here- we’re all being played by Rick Lance with this one. Again. This Gamma isn’t really being offered for sale yet another time- not with an asking price that would be an absolute, all time, world record for any Gamma. If he did want to sell it, he knows better than most that top market is around $15K. It’s an example of not really intending to sell something unless somebody’s willing to pay way, way above comparable past examples (“anything’s for sale for the right price”).
And I’m not taking anything away from the bike itself- it had better be the world’s best, trickest, most dialled in Gamma. Nope, he does this once a year with this particular bike as an attention getter, as an advertisement for his business, to get people talking. Wow- did you see the Gamma for sale for $23,000? He must be crazy! I’ve never heard of one worth that much money!
Yes we’re looking at it again, and your Gamma biz is getting market exposure again. Well played, Mr. Lance!
Looks like Mr Lance upped you one by raising the price to $24,000.
One in Australia reached the low $30,000[around $33,000 U.S.,currently] mark but failed to sell,if I remember correctly.I think it failed to make reserve.
I have one for sale at around 12k with spares, not dreaming, just selling. Not on ebay yet. talk to me. Cheers R.G.
