Introduced in 1994, the Aprilia RS250 was powered by Suzuki’s RGV250 engine, a two-stroke v-twin freed from Japanese market power restrictions and producing a screaming 55hp, housed in Aprilia’s gorgeous aluminum beam frame and swingarm combo, with quality suspension at both ends and triple Brembo calipers to bring the whole thing to a very abrupt stop when needed. Considered one of the best-handling bikes of the era, perhaps of all time, it was extremely light, agile, and required full commitment to extract the bike’s available performance. It was challenging to ride quickly, but that was the whole point: handling and rider involvement over brute power, electronic rider aids, and an over-reliance on technology.

This bike is well specced and in perfect condition and needs nothing. The bike was overhauled in 2020 which comprised of a full top end including re-plating the cylinders and the addition of the tuning parts. Full re-paint (no fairing repairs needed), chassis inspection and clean / lubrication was also performed. There were some cracks in the engine cradle which is common on this bike. It was professionally welded and has not presented any new issues since. The brakes were stripped, cleaned and the new lines added. Many fasteners were replaced with stainless steel to avoid future corrosion. Always run on VP Ethanol free fuel to avoid gas tank swelling. It runs very strongly, and its performance is a huge improvement over the standard engine. It has been used very occasionally at track days over the past 7 years and always attracts lots of attention both on and off the track. It’s the perfect blend of performance and reliability for anyone looking to own an appreciating classic 2 stroke track bike.
Parts included with the sale are:
OEM foot pegs and controls.
OEM exhausts.
OEM ECU and connectors.
So far, this little two-stroke Aprilia RS250 seems to have generated little attention, with barely a week left to go on the auction. The $7,000 starting bid seems reasonable for an RS250, considering the raft of performance parts included, although this obviously is a track-only machine, which tends to limit appeal. The listing includes a comprehensive list of updates and maintenance, but precious few photographs, and those that are here are basically the same photo, just from slightly different angles. And of course that very obviously necessary shot of the 69-ing devil baby decal from the bike’s windscreen…
