Honda’s iconic CB750, introduced in 1969, became the significantly updated Honda CB750F in 1979. The bike was still air-cooled, but the engine now sported four valves per cylinder and dual overhead cams. Bore and stroke were square at 62 x 62mm, a design chosen to keep the engine narrow for better aerodynamics and to offer flexible power and better combustion from pistons with less surface area. The result was a claimed 72hp from 748cc. The CB750F wasn’t light by today’s sportbike standards, at more than 500lbs dry, but it was very much standard for the class. Cast 19″/18″ front/rear wheels were also the norm as motorcycles moved away from wire-spoked wheels. 1980 brought changes to improve handling, including uprated Showa shocks, a reinforced swingarm, a stiffened frame, and stronger wheels. The changes increased weight, but had the desired effect, and the bike was considered a superlative handler.

1982 Honda CB750F Super Sport. One of a kind bike. Won’t find one cleaner or more well maintained. It has a few extra parts added on. Like the Fairing (off of a CB1100F) painted to match. The air box covers (from a CB1000 custom) and the rear sets that are off of a CB1100F, along with the crash bars. Exhaust pipes do show a little pitting facing the motor but not noticeable. Bike has always been garage kept with a cover on it too. Never been in the weather. I`m in my 60`s and I don`t ride anymore. The bike needs a new home. It has been sitting up for 3-years now. Just put in a new battery and keep it tended. Gas was drained from the tank and carbs before being stored. Clutch rubbers will need to be replaced. The basket clatters a little bit while idling. Pull the clutch in noise goes away. Anybody familiar with these early 80`s bike`s, knows what I’m talking about. Only know issue with the bike. Never had any mechanical problems with it, not one. Bike is in outstanding condition. I will try to answer any and all questions the best I can. Bike is located in Shreveport, LA. 71107. Freddie Spencer Colors and his hometown, can’t beat that.
The very definition of a practical classic, this particular Honda CB750F Super Sport has been sitting, seemingly unnoticed on eBay for a while now. Which seems a shame, considering the balance of style, performance, and reliability on offer here. Is the tasteful and well-executed, but non-standard modifications listed by the seller? Or is it that $7,000 price tag, combined with the fact that these 80s classics still haven’t really taken off yet, in terms of desirability? I’m sure you can probably find cheaper, but you’d be hard-pressed to find one nicer…
