Update 1.6.2022: This bike has SOLD to an RSBFS reader! Congratulations to buyer and seller!

If you have a bike for sale that would benefit from this kind of exposure, contact us for a Featured Listing. -dc

Even by Ducati’s impressive standards for special editions and factory customs, the 2006 Ducati PS1000LE is a masterstroke. It is, in a way, a special edition within a special edition, as it prowled showrooms at the same time as the Ducati Sport Classic line, which kicked off a wave of retro-look machines that has yet to crest.

The PS1000LE was extra special for Duc, as it celebrated Paul Smart’s historic win at the 1972 Imola 200 aboard a 750SS. The paint scheme apes Smart’s machine, and Ducati had Pierre Terblance pen the neoclassic machine to pay exacting tribute.

The exposed trellis frame, toaster tank, bulbous rear cowl and dustbin-style bikini fairing are brilliant touches. Under all that pretty is a 992 cc L-twin that put out just south of 100 horsepower. Never designed as an out-and-out rocket, the PS is still no slouch, as the torquey mill has less than 400 pounds to shove around. It’s all kept rubberside down by adjustable Ohlins front and rear.

From the seller:

2006 Ducati PS1000LE
I have owned this rare beauty since new. The Termignoni full exhaust system sound is music and the best sounding bike in my collection. Other mods are a Ducati performance racing ECU, open clutch cover, dark shield and clear belt covers and carbon fiber hugger. Original parts will go with the bike with the exception of the original exhaust. Included are two black keys, one red key & key Code Card as well as the Ducati owner’s manual. I have every receipt since it was purchased and it has only been serviced by authorized Ducati dealers. The bike also comes with the Ducati tank cover and tank bag.
These bikes were only made one year and they were limited to 2000 units. This bike was made as a tribute to Paul Smarts win at Imola 200 in 1972 which jump started Ducatis racing successes. The popularity of the limited production bikes led to the popular Sport Classic series.
The bike is a 992cc air cooled Desmodromic 2-valve L twin with 92 HP @ 6,000 RPM and a claimed 399 pounds day with a fuel capacity of 4 gallons with a top speed of 129 MPH.
Price $18,500

These Paul Smart bikes will only go up in value, and while this one might not have the stock exhaust, it is priced to reflect that and is a beautiful example of a timeless bike.

1993 Yamaha SRX400 For Sale!

1993 Yamaha SRX400 For Sale on eBay!

In 1993, an almost liter bike sized machine with a funny sized front tire was all the rave and blah, blah, blah #BeenThereDoneThat
While Baba was doing his thing, Yamaha was off to the side tinkering on their own niche machine- the SRX 400 Thumper!

I normally frown upon rare machines with a complete overhaul and modern updates, but I also realize I’m almost as old as dirt and my favorite 90’s machines are starting to require some freshening up.
I’m not a fan of the muscle car term they use for such overhauls and I literally hate to say it, but in this case it fits . . . I can’t even type it.

93 Yamaha SRX400
Beautiful Showroom condition
Fully restored sparing no expense
Complete Frame off restoration with all new components
New tires, wheel bearings, brakes with SS lines and upgraded calipers
Upgraded front forks with springs and emulators, Ohlins rear shock
Beautiful high end Titanium exhaust, Billet rearsets
Fresh paint, Led lighting, new Speedometer to match Tach
Motor runs great, fresh oil and new clutch pack

Whew! The seller didn’t use the muscle car term, but they did mention a beautiful high end titanium exhaust! Let’s have a look- shall we?

That my friends is a dime piece! Lets look at that again-

The SRX was already a welter weight at 374#’s and we all know the 5# stock exhaust is best used as a boat anchor. So that sweet ass Ti exhaust drops it down to 370’ish#’s and definitely adds a few ponies. Now, it’s a given that SRX ponies are almost as hard to find as frogs hair, but rest assured, they are there. How many you ask? Let’s be generous and call it 35’ish with the Ti exhaust and one cylinder.

The Olhins is a nice touch and I’m sure the stock unit was worn out and FUBAR.

Do I have any company in liking this SRX? If so, you can check it out here!

Make: Yamaha
Model: SRX400
Location: Jupiter, Florida
Mileage: 8
Price: $5,000

Cheers!

1990 Suzuki RGV250 SP2 For Sale!

1990 Suzuki RGV250 SP2 For Sale on eBay!

I like to look at pictures. Do you like to look at pictures? Good- have a seat and feast your eyes on this 2 Stroke goodness.

From Mr Two Stroker
1990 Suzuki RGV250SP2. My rare RGV250SP2 which I have owed since March 1991 is up for sale from my collection. As the second owner I imported this bike from the original owner back in 1991 and therefore it’s not all corroded and oxidized like many Japanese imports of this age. For those who are no familiar with this rare SP2 model, it was only made by Suzuki in limited numbers for a few years. It’s a Japanese SP model bike with one big difference. The SP2 model came with the same gear ratios as the street non SP model. It did not have the tall SP racing transmission. But everything else was identical to the SP1 model, dry clutch, bigger carbs, and fully adjustable suspension, used on the SP1. I have spent a small fortune on upgrades for this bike. Many upgrades that are no longer available.

I totally rebuilt the engine less than 1,000 miles ago. New Pistons, rings, Crank seals, water pump, dry clutch upgrades, VHM O-ring high performance heads. The cylinders were ceramic recoated and lightly ported by my old friend Stan Stephens back in the UK. Ceramic coating is harder and more durable than Nikasil plating. Aftermarket billet power valves installed. It has the bigger SP carburetors on it with the Suzuki full SP jetting kit set up. Air box modifications. I put a UK made Pace high performance radiator on. This is a thicker high quality racing Rad. Not some cheap Chinese aftermarket product. That with silicone radiator hoses. Bike has a full power UK black box. All with a beautiful set of Lomas stainless steel pipes with carbon silencers.

For handling I installed a Tyga triple clamp, Sansei handle bars, racing 300mm Italian made front disk with 6 piston calibers, and 19mm front master cylinder. Brakes are phenomenal. Front suspension is fully adjustable and had been reworked by PPS. The back has a beautiful Penske fully adjustable rear shock, Wave rear disk. I just rebuilt the rear caliber, steel braided brake lines throughout. Installed, at a high price, custom made light weight magnesium rims front and back from Dymag. Tyga rear sets, steering damper, were added along with a new MPH speedo! It has almost unused Michelin Pilots tires on it, that are old and should be replaced.

I recently did a brake fluid flush, trans oil change, new coolant, new plugs, new battery, New petcock, Ultra sound carb cleaning. Bike was sitting in my collection and hasn’t been used in years.

Bike has a lot of titanium, stainless and aluminum nuts and bolts, Carbon front and rear fenders, Aluminum front fairing stay.

I have a Tyga unpainted rear tail section on it. Custom shock reservoir holder. The front fairing are the originals from 1990! They have some chips and minor cracks in them. Not the best of shape but still fine. Tank has a small ding in it that was there when I bought the bike in 1991. I was going to put a new Tyga front fairing on it. Have it all pained to look like a museum piece, but decided after 10’s of thousands of dollars, I’m not spending any more on I bike I no longer ride. It needs to go to someone who will appreciate and ride it.

This bike is ready fast with some of the best aftermarket parts that were available at that time. It’s ready to go and comes with a current valid California plate and title! I loved riding around on this bike, but after 31 years it’s another bike in my collection that I must sell. At my age, I’m getting to the point I’ll be hauling round on a motorized wheelchair rather than on a super-fast 250!!

I think I need a cigarette now, but I must confess- I usually look down my nose at heavily modified machines. However, not so much on this one. What’s different you ask? Lets start with the drool worthy Dymag wheels. Wooooo doggy!
How about we throw in a race worthy Penske shock, ceramic coated cylinders and full power chip? Had enough yet? Okay, it’s outfitted with some tasty TYGA carbon and aerospace grade aluminum bits and bobs too.

These make around 60hp, but the power band to make that power resides in a pretty narrow stretch of RPM’s. Usually, hitting between the 8-11,000 range for peak power. I bet those Lomas Shotgun’s scream “FU!” when you get on the pipe 🙂

Let’s look at some more pics shall we? Thank you! I don’t mind if I do.

Clean, tastefully modified, well sorted, definitely rare and most certainly one of a kind!

Step right up and don’t be shy (The Tubes 82′) –

2000 Bimota SB8R: The TL1000R with Italian Flair

The Suzuki TL1000R is widely known for an attempt to go superbike racing in period.  Large displacement twins were dominating the track and cementing a reputation for desirability that still lives on.  At this point the TL has a cult like following, despite some well known flaws.  Top two that come to mind are the weight and the suspension geometry.

For many years Bimota has wrapped their beautiful carbon bodywork around limited production frames holding other manufactures engines.  In the case of the SB8R a twin beam frame, with a stressed carbon fiber engine cradle holds a TL1000R engine.  While Bimota was able to squeeze about 10% more power out of the mill with the addition of a new fuel injection system with absolutely massive throttle bodies(59mm vs 52mm stock), the real real headline is that the SB8R is 46 pounds lighter then the Suzuki.

Fully adjustable Paioli forks and Ohlins shocks were used as they were some of the best components available at the time.  Brembo calipers and masters round out the braking system.  The self supported carbon tail and font carbon intake tubes just ooze cool.

From The Seller’s eBay Listing:

This 2000 Bimota SB8R is an original. The owner has had it for 1 year. The vehicle needs work.
Seller’s Notes
SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY

Dreadfully light on details in this listing, a little digging shows a pervious listing of the same bike.  Some of the details in that listing need a little bit of clarification.  It looks like the turn signals have been changed to the latter style clear lens units, not a big deal and an easy thing to correct.  The rearsets are not aftermarket, they are a factory option.  Basically a silver version of the adjustable units used on the SB8RS.  A fuel pump and system overhaul should be on anyone’s radar when considering a bike with such low mileage.  While these were rare bikes, with about 250 made, parts are not that hard to come by.  There is a very active Bimota owners community, and an amazing classic parts division.

Priced at $7,000 and opened to offers this could represent a great opportunity for someone to dip their toe into the world of exotic bikes without fully busting the piggy bank.  The upgraded Corse exhaust is sure to please the ears and it is highly unlikely to see another bike like this out and about.

1992 Honda NR 750 RC40-

1992 Honda NR 750 RC40 For Sale!

Full transparency- This one was tossed around the RSBFS.com headquarters as to whether or not it was a legit ad. When all was said and done, Mike and Donn took a step back and William . . . well, William was too busy looking for the Desitin to really get involved so, they threw the new guy to the wolves.

Is it Live or Memorex? I know some of you are too young to know what that is, but the majority of you will get it. Why am I asking that silly question?

Here is the info from the eBay listing:

From the seller:
For sale is HONDA NR 750 IN RED

YEAR 1992

For serious interest only.
Listing will be on for 7 days : if you are interested Please send messages.

A touch vague for a super rare motorcycle don’t you think? But wait there’s more . . . The seller has zero transactions on eBay. No worries- we all started at 0 on eBay. Right? Okay, maybe not 0 and selling Honda’s Holy Grail. The other interesting thing to note is normally these types of machines attract huge “watched” numbers, but this one is currently flying under the radar because (we assume) of the way it was listed/categorized on eBay.

Nonetheless! Let’s get this show on the road-

In 1992 Honda decided to flex it’s engineering muscle and finally produce a motorcycle with their long researched oval piston design. Obviously, such a task isn’t for the weak of heart or weak pocket books. It’s my understanding that Honda had been working on the oval piston design since the mid-seventies, but for whatever reason, never really pushed it for a production unit. That is of course until 1992 when they released the NR750 RC40 powered by the oval piston V4. Honda went all out with the NR750. Not only did it have oval pistons, it had titanium valves, and 2 titanium connecting rods per cylinder. If I’m not mistaken, the NR750 was also the first Honda equipped with “upside down” forks on a production unit. All of that wizardry didn’t make the NR750 the fastest or the lightest at almost 500#’s. However, that Honda wizardry did assemble one of “THE” most sought after motorcycles in the world. All of my exhaustive searches placed it in the number 2 spot of most desirable and collectable motorcycles- only being eclipsed by Martin’s beloved Britten V1000.

It is literally “Once in a blue moon” when these pop up for sale, but yet, here it is.

Did any of you all notice it’s missing the mirrors? I’m guessing those aren’t easy to locate so, I’m hoping the seller removed them as a precautionary measure.

This machine is the reason RSBFS.com exists.

Check out the unobtainable here!

Cheers!

Featured Listing: All Original 1990 Yamaha TZR 250 SP

Update 10.23.2021: SOLD to an RSBFS reader! Congratulations to buyer and seller!

If you have a bike for sale that would benefit from this kind of exposure, contact us for a Featured Listing. -dc

Location: Chagrin Falls, Ohio
Mileage: 17,540km/10,898m
Price: $16,000

Straight out of a private collection is this amazing 1990 TZR 250 3MA. 1 of 500 produced solely for the JDM in it’s original state. No paint work, OEM body panels, original windscreen, original turn signals and ready to roll (see video below).

In 1990 Yamaha threw every available option at the TZR SP. It came from the factory with upside down forks, braced swing arm, the latest YPVS offering and a dry clutch. It is very close to the full on race version TZR 250W. If you’re not familiar with Yamaha’s reverse cylinder design- the carburetors face the front wheel and the exhaust exits on the rear of the cylinder which is why Yamaha designed a true under tail exit exhaust for the ultimate Racer Boy look!

The seller has gone above and beyond the call of duty to accurately describe their machine with hi-res photos. Please take your time- browse through them all and enjoy how well this 3MA has been preserved. I did some research today and poured over the RSBFS.com archives where I could only find 1 other 1990 3MA ever listed on our site. So, based on our 14 year history- you are looking at a truly rare machine.

I hope you enjoyed that video as much as I did. There’s nothing quite like a 2 stroke buzzing down the road at 10k rpm and hearing the rattle of the dry clutch when slowing down- especially when you can do it without worry. That’s right, this TZR 250 is titled, tagged and completely legal under the 25 year old rule. This is a no hassle 2-stroke purchase.

Is this the one you’ve been waiting for? Will you ride it or put it on display?

1993 Ducati 888 SPO For Sale!

1993 Ducati 888 SPO For Sale on eBay!

Coming in on the heels of Mikes French Drama Lama 888 SP5/Strada is this Merica 888 SPO. This Ducati is certain to please WhyzeeF and Luke because this one lacks a LE number plate on the triple, but . . . it does have that pesky No 1 tail plate . . . Hmmmm. Oh! I know, that’s because Ducati won the WSB championship in 1992. They followed 92’s championship season up by winning both the WSBK and AMA Championships in 93′ with the 888. So, this number plate actually means something! 🙂

From the seller-

In case you are not aware 888SPO was sold only in the US market. The SPO was a combination of the high performance SP5 and the European- specification Strada. Apart from a different EPROM, the engine of the SPO was identical to the Starda. The SPO shared more with the SP5 when it came to the chassis. There were only 170 produced for the 1993 model year with another 120 equipped to meet California emissions. This is not a California example. There were another 100 released for 1994 with only a few cosmetic differences including a production number plate on the triple clamp.

This SPO presents well and for a good reason- It’s averaged around 400 miles a year since it crossed the pond. As the seller mentions, there were around 390 of these imported in 93′ and 94′. Not super low numbers by Italian manufacturers standards, but low enough to make them sought after and highly collectable. These have been slowly creeping up in price over the years and this one seems to be leading the way and pushing the envelope with a BIN price of $18,500. If you’re interested in this one and want to compare pricing or condition you can search our archives and gain a lot of insight on these.

Check out this SPO here!

Ciao!
