1991 GSXR-1100. Ladies and Gentleman, the Godfather

Location: Oxford, Mississippi
Mileage: 31,000
Price: Auction, currently $2,025 and ending soon!

Okay, this post hurts a little bit, for I am not a wealthy man and cannot take this home. To let you know what this bike is to me, you should know I have a poster of it on the wall in my garage that I have held onto for 20 years. More than a half a dozen moves to various cities in various boxes in a multitude of moving vans, and the poster remains. Quite simply a bike that set the standard.

This looks to be a very clean example of the air and oil cooled classic Suzuki GSXR-1100. Introduced in 1986, the early versions of this bike had a chassis that really wasn’t up to the 137 horsepower task. However Suzuki made improvements to accommodate the power over the years, so this bike’s handling should be much improved. In 1991 this motor was a brute and is still considered one of the best ever.

From the seller:

This is a stunning example of the classic air/oil-cooled GSXR.

Features:

  • Rebuilt Rear shock (with receipts)
  • Bridgestone Battlax tires installed last year and repainted rims
  • zero gravity smoked screen
  • Russell braided stainless brake and clutch lines
  • New Sunstar Sprocket and RK Gold Chain
  • Original owners manual, Haynes manual and documents
  • Yoshimura Exhaust
  • K&N filters
  • Dynojet jet kit

This bike has always been loved and well maintained by serious bike enthusiasts. I have ridden it approx 3,000 miles in the last two years and it is a fabulous machine: fast, with a sonorous exhaust note, great handling and receives attention wherever I take it. It has the original paint in fantastic condition. There is a small crack in the upper fairing below the steering damper otherwise the bodywork is very clean. Many people mistake this bike for new! I am a lifelong car/motorcycle nut and have lavished my attention on this machine – If you are looking for a classic GSXR this is the one to get.
I invite all questions and you are welcome to inspect the bike. I am located one hour south of Memphis.
This machine will not disappoint.

More photos here and many more in the auction:

To find an example this clean of an early GSXR-1100 these days in becoming rare indeed. Mileage may be a little high for this bike, but if it’s cared for it should still provide miles of enjoyment. The engine’s reliability is legendary. The modifications and maintenance seem smart and it even includes the owners manual.

I happen to believe that all liter bikes owe something to this bike. So if Suzuki is your brand or you just enjoy legendary, groundbreaking sportbikes, then do what I can’t and !

1995 Suzuki GSX-R 1100 w/ low miles for sale

1995 Suzuki GSX-R 1100

Location: San Juan Capistrano, CA
Mileage: 13,717
Price: $3,200.00 B.I.N. or

So, there’s been some behind the scenes chatter this week about how we are stuck in the 90’s with RSBFS posts. But, with bikes and graphics like this 95 Gixxer who can resist? I said “to hell with my co-workers” I’m posting this one up and if they don’t like it they can kiss my a**!

To put myself in the mood, to do this old machine justice, I thought I’d dial up some Vulgar Display of Power by Pantera. Yes, I thought it would be fitting and help me write this one up and put a little edge to it.

Just like Pantera these mid 90’s Gixxers had loud and let’s call it controversial styling. You can call them splash graphics, California colors or just down right obnoxious, but the graphics on my beloved 90’s machines are timeless and are easy to spot. Just in case you can’t read my mind here- I loved the 80’s and 90’s, but the 90’s were better for me. I like loud, obnoxious and this low mileage Gixxer makes me want to jump in the mosh pit again and dance…. no wait a minute- oh right, that’s the Pantera blasting in my ear.

Pushing nearly 150 ponies and an easy to love riding position have made this a classic sport bike. You’d surely be the talk of any bike gathering you rode this thing to and for damn good reason.

Looking to recapture your 90’s youth or the GSX-R you missed out on? Dial up the Pantera and pick this one up for a modest $3,200 bucks. Oh, and don’t forget the Rogaine, hat or sunscreen.

Cheers!

1991 Suzuki GSX R 1100 with 7599 original miles!

1991 Suzuki GSX-R 1100 for sale

Location: Phoenix, AZ
Mileage: 7,599
Price: Update 12.12.10: Sold!

We’ve featured a few of these on RSBFS.com previously and we’ve been alerted to yet another one that deserves to grace our pages.

Unlike so many other ones this one has survived the wrath of late night drag racing! Woo Hoo! Thank you Suzuki God-

I’m getting older now and my memory is fading fast, but if I recall these were over shadowed by the razor sharp GSX-R 750’s of the day. Although, these did put out a stout 143hp they were a bit porky at almost 560#’s when full of liquids.

With the clip-ons above the triple clamp these were a welcome relief from the norm of the day. It also made it a bit more tolerable running around town and riding 2 up. For those that don’t know, this is an air/oil cooled GSX-R motor and they tend to operate on the upper end of the thermostat. I seem to recall a lot of guys removing the lowers during the super hot days while cruising in the Ohio Valley, but with a mere 7,599 miles I don’t suspect this one saw much of that. The other notable thing about these early GSX-R 1100’s is that they were 5 speeds and not 6 speeds.

From the listing:

The bike is an original Arizona bike and has been stored in this state for all of its life. No rust or corrosion. Just normal wear and tear if any! Bike is completely stock, except for new chain and sprockets. All factory reflectors’ are either on the bike or will be when it ships.

The seller has graciously posted a lot more pictures on the auction site for your review. If you feel the need to rock it old skool jump on over and .

Cheers!
