Month in Review: June 2013 Sales Report

Welcome back to our latest sales report, where savvy buyers and sellers keep an eye on market values. We blogged a record 60 bikes in June and readers purchased 14 bikes in total.

Lowest sale price: $2900
Highest sale price: $19800

Congratulations to June’s buyers and sellers!

Let’s get it started with this 1996 Suzuki GSX-R 1100 that had a buy-it-now of $3600 and sold after one relist for $2950.

1996 Suzuki GSX-R 1100

This Yamaha YZR500 replica build in the UK was first listed for about $22,600 but ended up selling for $20,500 after two relists.

In Arizona this 2002 Aprilia RS250 MKII sold for a shade over $9k.

2002 Aprilia RS250

This red-headed Moto Guzzi V11 Rosso Corsa sold for a very reasonable $5500.

2003 Moto Guzzi Rosso Corsa

Here was a sharp 1997 Yamaha YZF750R that sold for a mere $3700.

1997 Yamaha YZF750R

Next is this 1987 Honda CBR600 Hurricane that sold for $3950.

1987 Honda CBR600 Hurricane

A cult favorite, this 1985 Yamaha RZ350 sold for just $5000.

1985 Yamaha RZ350

This 1982 Ducati 900 Supersport pulled in $17,100!

1982 Ducati 900SS

After being relisted once, this 1996 Bimota BB1 is going to sell for $5444.

1996 Bimota BB1

With one relist, this Yamaha FZR400 sold for $3450.

Yamaha FZR400

Combining items in a single auction almost never works, but in the case of this lot with a 1986 Suzuki GSX-R1100 and 1987 GSX-R50 sold for $13,100.

1986 Suzuki GSX-R 1100

Here’s an ugly duckling that sold for just $2900.

1996 Yamaha FZR600

In the Pacific Northwest, this 1990 Honda NSR250R (MC21) sold for a mere $4825.

1990 Honda NSR250R

While not a Formula, this 1999 Laverda 750S sold for just $4550.

1999 Laverda 750S

And this nearly new 2002 Ducati 998S Bayliss sold for an astonishing $19,800!

2002 Ducati 998S Bayliss

At the other end of the spectrum, this 2001 Ducati 996 with just 1100 miles sold for $7500, which I think might be the best Ducati of the month.

2001 Ducati 996

Another 1986 Suzuki GSX-R 1100, and this one sold for $5400.

Modified and Restored: 1990 Yamaha FZR400 For Sale in California

1990 Yamaha FZR400 For Sale

I was going to title this one as a “restomod”, but that term usually implies more extensive modifications. While it’s very clear it has been restored, and there are some very tasteful but subtle upgrades, it’s just the paint scheme that isn’t stock. However I think it’s so well done that it could be mistaken for factory. On top of that, the bike only has 6k some miles. 6 days remaining and reserve is still in place.

Stock pipe and box of original and spare parts including master cylinder, front brake calipers, brake lines and complete set of carbs for spares. Brakes are extremely strong with excellent feel. Bike has not been tuned or jetted so better midrange with the stock pipe and better high RPM horsepower with the period correct Yoshimura pipe! Somewhere in the 23 year life of this bike it appears to have been down on the right side as shown in picture #22 of the indent in the steering stop. Nowhere else is there any evidence of a tip over. I suspect it was long ago. I have owned the bike since 2009 and have put all of the 6k miles on it without one slight issue. Bike is ready to ride. Needs Nothing!

1989 Yamaha FZR400 For Sale!

East Peoria, IL – 10,714mi – $3,549 No Reserve

89YamahaFZR400_2It’s been a while since we have seen an FZR400 here on RSBFS and that makes me sad. I love these bikes and to me they represent what RSBFS is all about. What they represent is a combination of performance, classic sport bike looks, and the rare and exoticness that people like me, and most of you, will drool over.

There is a reason that this bike is still considered one of the best handling bikes… because they are. And how does a 59hp inline-four blasting its way to 14,000rpm sound? Sounds great to me! You get all of Yamaha’s trick goodies of the day including, but not limited to, the EXUP system, widening the power band. All tucked into a lightweight package and covered in classic late-80’s Yamaha graphics.

The particular bike for sale right now looks next to as clean as you could hope for. Aside from some lower fairing issues from the bike being tipped over, it’s hard to spot any outstanding issues. I have seen lots of these that are thrashed and/or converted to track use with a 600cc engine in there.

From the seller:

This is a VERY rare find, an unmolested, never raced, lovingly cared for, garaged, 2 owner, bone stock Yamaha FZR400.

How this one never made it to the track still bewilders us, we have built and raced these bikes since the late 80′s and have a vast amount of spares along with of wealth of info and support to go along with the purchase.

*Full history and All documentation comes with bike*, Purchased new in 1991 for $4300 by an older gent, he started a binder of info and service records that are pictured. Including the original invoice and setup sheet. He sold the bike in the early 2000 to a hot Asian Med. student in Md.

She used the bike to learn how to ride and commute to Med school in Baltimore. In learning how to ride it has fallen over and shows minor scratches on the air intake of the lower fairing. Not crashed or thrown down the road,,,IT FELL OVER. The mileage is accurate and low because she lived in the city close to school.

Now a famous (still hot) Doctor she has no time ride or risk messing up her pretty little surgeon hands.

So thats how we ended up with the bike. There are no stories here it’s all documented and 100%.

It had been sitting for a while so we took care of a Full Service and safety ck, inc.

New Bridgestone tires,EBC brakes,EK chain, plugs, all fluids changed. Carbs were cleaned and rebuilt and a new battery installed. It runs as it should and needs nothing. Except a new owner.

Sold only to a good home! please no kids who are gonna try to put a 190 tire on the back or wack some flush mounts on it.

This is a collector quality piece and will make a great scoot for you or your significant other.

We typically see these bikes in similar condition for sale from about $4,000-$4,500, with the price increasing with lower mileage and more pristine condition. I could easily see this bike pushing the $4.5k mark given its current state. Let’s face it, these bikes are damn cool and they aren’t making anymore ’89 FZR400’s. If you got to have it, you can check out the auction here. But you better act fast as there is only a couple days left.
