Although Spanish outfit Bultaco seems primarily remembered for their offroad racing efforts, they also successfully campaigned a range of roadracing and Grand Prix machines like today’s Bultaco TSS 250. Notable for being water-cooled when that was considered relatively unusual for a racing two-stroke, the TSS 250 didn’t use a more conventional water pump to circulate coolant through the radiator and cylinder head, relying instead on a primitive, but very effective thermosiphon system that used the natural tendency of heated fluid to rise within the system to draw coolant upward through the engine. The bike also featured an electronic ignition system that reduced maintenance and improved reliability and a six-speed transmission to make full use of the 244cc single cylinder’s claimed 38.5hp.

This is a 1968 Bultaco 250 TSS water cooled very rare. It’s completely in running condition. It was checked out by Jerry Cheney racing. The bike is mostly all original these are real hard to find super fast. Bike does not come with the front fender. Everything else is original.

Unfortunately, I’m not an expert on Bultaco, and information online is pretty thin, so I’m really not able to offer much insight into this Bultaco TSS 250. The included pictures are of decent quality, but it’d be nice to see a few more closeups, and at least a couple with the fairing removed. A more detailed history would be nice as well: these were rare racing machines, and value could vary wildly depending on an individual example’s history. The $21,000 Buy It Now price seems to be in the ballpark for a TSS 250, although a much nicer example sold for $27,000 on BaT a couple years back, so the seller here might be a bit optimistic.
