For Sale: 2001 Ducati MH900e Evoluzione
When introduced on January 1, 2000, this modern remake of the Mike Hailwood memorial model was more Tron than “Mike the Bike.” The internet ferver (it was available for sale online only) was built to a fever pitch, and the entire model lineup sold out on that first day. This is #1935 of a total 2000 built.
Utilizing many of the components of the modern sport classic line, the MH900e is powered by the familiar two valve Desmo, air cooled, 90 degree L-twin. This unit pumps out good torque and a great bass note, but is not equal to the higher reving units found on the Desmoquattro models. The rest of the chassis is pure MHe, including a single sided rear swingarm, unique seat cowl and high mounted “shotgun” exhaust pipes.
From the seller:
Perfect condition.# 1935 of 2000 in existence.
Serviced by BMW Ducati Husqvarna Motorcycles of Atlanta last weekend. Please feel free to call them about the bike.
I have original key, rear tire sturdy stand, Owners Manual and a nice helmet to go with the bike. I do not have the tee shirt.
The bike is in perfect working condition and without flaw. Museum quality.
I am the sole owner.
These MHe machines have had an interesting history in terms of pricing. Initially, pricing went through the roof when demand exceeded supply and the hype had yet to settle. The bikes then went through a marked downturn as folks moved on to the next big thing from Ducati, MV Agusta, Bimota and others. A few years ago, these were $9k-$12k purchases. Recent activity might suggest the cost of entry is going up.
This seller is asking what can only be described as absurd money for this MH900e. With an opening bid of $17,000 (with reserve still in place), to a sky high $25,000 Buy It Now – these are RC30 numbers! Still, this is a one owner bike with a mere 300 claimed miles – not many for a revolutionary bike that is now 12 years old. To see more about the bike, click the link and jump over to the auction. Is this a bucket-bike for any of our readers? Be sure and let us know!
