So the RC30 is one of the most desirable sportbikes there is. They are always featured here on RSBFS when they show themselves. And that seems to be a lot lately. These bikes only came to the States in 1990 and they are rare here (around 300 imported), but worldwide production was greater than say the Yamaha R7 OW02. Who knows what is driving these out of hiding, but I suspect the (rapidly) rising values has something to do with it.
Here’s some more pics to drool over-
Seller’s information is brief-
Up for sale is a 1990 Honda RC30 this bike has 1,025 miles on it and is in great shape. You will notice on some of the pictures there is a small crack on each side of the upper farlings. Runs great been garaged since owning the bike.
The bike looks clean except for the cracked fairing. The mileage is low, which is not uncommon. These were expensive ($15k) when they were released and I think people saw the potential for increasing in value then. The RC30 is the top of the pyramid when it comes to being collectible so originality and condition are crucial. The seller is starting at $25,000 which is right in there with super pristine examples going for $30k and beyond.
The RC30 is a one killer bike by any estimation. If you want to make a play, then go place a bid!

“Who knows what is driving these out of hiding, but I suspect the (rapidly) rising values has something to do with it.”
I suspect it is the prospect that these and other bikes will NOT increase in value much more as the economy tanks further and prospects look gloomy.
The smart money is trying to get OUT of “collectible” bikes while the going is good and cash is available for folks to spend on these toys.
Buy low sell high has 2 components, the seller believes he is at the peak of the market and the buyer believes he is at the low of the market – only 1 can be correct.
Uhhhh. I cannot recall from memory but, the turn signal don’t look right. Thought the front ones where white.
Warming my heart to see that red tank emblem. A real American!
Guess I was wrong about the color of the front signals, but the shape does not look oem. I am nit picking because I madly wish I could afford to bid…
WARNING! The USA RC30 community is a relatively small and tight one, and I know this particular 30 very well. #116 was a race bike from day one, and there are some very important facts being left unsaid here. The biggest being the 3″X2″ rectangular welded and patched in area at the upper left frame spar, next to the cast steering head section. Notice that there’s no close up picture or written mention of this fact, and it’s very negative reality. The swingarm is polished and is missing it’s chain guard, because the tabs were cut off when it was raced. The forks are actually polished up HRC race kit items with more adjustable damping than the stock forks. Oh yeah, all signals are Lockhart Phillips minis, but there’s much more important issues here. Talk about “sins of omission” and buyer beware- there’s even more to the story on this baby…
Also, this bike was setup for it’s long gone Keihin flatslides. The highly ported heads and possibly different cams means a not happy 30 running on the street, with the stock carbs now in the equation.
Redrider….Great information !!! Can you imagine getting this home then finding this out? Like saying Sudam was found relaxing in a luxury sauna.
Well, somebody’s in for a very nasty surprise and disappointment when and if they see this machine close up. Incredibly, there’s now an opening bid at $25K.
Thanks for posting Redrider. Great comments.
What a fantastic resource RSBFS and people like you are.
