Introduced in 2001 on the heels of the spectacular F4, MV Agusta’s Brutale shared most of its sportier sibling’s parts and running gear, including its quality suspension, gorgeous wheels, radial-valved 749cc engine, and cassette-style gearbox. Later bikes increased in displacement, although the Brutale engines were often suspiciously smaller than the units powering the F4. Supposedly the F4 1000’s engine was “too tall” to fit in the Brutale, but those frames look awfully similar… Regardless, the 910 version with a claimed 136hp seen here seems like a bit of a Goldilocks bike: the Brutale 750 was often considered a bit slow [?!] and the 1078 seems a bit much for a naked bike. I have some experience riding one of these in a very nice red/silver scheme and fitted with a Microtec ECU that gave the bike a weird loping idle like a cammed small block Chevy… You’re very much perched on top of the bike, and subject to serious wind blast at speed on the highway. Probably great for developing your neck muscles… At low speeds, the twitchy throttle and limited steering lock make it challenging, but it’s a blast on back roads: agile and confident, with excellent brakes and much more power than you’re ever likely to need.
- MV Corse steering dampner

- Dedicated MV Corse ECU installed.
- Brand new Shorai lithium battery.
This Brutale 910S has very low miles and is fitted with a quality, but still aesthetically lacking exhaust: it’s really hard to beat the slash-cut shotgun original design. Just keep the stock pipes and fit a freer-flowing, cat-less mid-pipe that frees up a good bit of noise but isn’t obnoxious. The $4,000 starting price seems like a good place to start, as decent 750 Brutales can be found for that kind of money. Overall, Brutales of all displacements seem like an absolute steal at the moment, with the looks, performance, and character of an MV, but without the agonizing riding position of the F4. Plus: way fewer body panels to remove when you inevitably have to do some/have some work done to it.
