Crazy to think that the oldest S1000RR is almost old enough to vote! It seems like only yesterday when BMW shocked the industry with their entry into the open class sport bike category. For a while these bikes were the top of everyone’s list. These bikes could do almost anything. Want to race pro level superbike? They did that. Want to go drag and roll racing? Unsurprisingly these dominated. Want an epic street bike that you could also track? Well, these were basically designed for that. As with any bike in this class, the manufacture could not resist special editions and upgrades from time to time. That is what we have here in the HP4
From the Seller’s eBay Listing:
The 2014 BMW HP4 COMPETITION EDITION is a sport bike with a powerful 1000cc engine, boasting a sleek blue exterior color. With only 5954 miles on the odometer, this high-performance motorcycle is in excellent condition and comes with a clean title. This limited edition model offers a unique riding experience for motorcycle enthusiasts looking for speed and style.
With 212 horses on tap this bike is clearly ready to perform, even a decade after it was launched. The performance is unquestioned while the styling might be. When new these were polarizing for sure, much like the Ducati 999. Just look how well the 999 has aged, wonder if that will be the case with the BMW too.
The example today seems devoid of any egregious modifications. Lowish milage but no mention of service history. The listing is short on details and photographs, but still worth a look if you are after a real icon of the era.
