For Sale: 1993 Ducati Superbike 888 Corsa
Dec 1, 2011 update: The seller has uploaded many new pictures of this bike. Jump over the to the auction to check them out!
Here is a very interesting and rare Ducati model with very little supporting information: A 1993 Ducati 888 Corsa (Corse) edition. The Corse edition bikes were shipped from the factory intenting to be racers – no lights, limited electronics (just fuel injection and what was needed to run the motor), special bodywork and components. This program originally started with the 851, which in the later years was really a 888cc motor with 851 badging. By 1993, the 926cc motor was introduced, although the 888 badging remained.
From the seller:
Ducati 888 corsa 926cc vin nr888S*002189 build as a factory racer for the 93 world super bike series I believe there were only 32 been build. The bike is in good running condition and have all the original parts on the bike
There is no race history listed here, so the actual timeline of the bike (where it was originally sold, who rode it, which races, etc) is really in question. But that is the amazing thing about old racebikes – they are a mystery waiting to be discovered. For example: How did this one end up in South Africa?
The seller claims to have all the original parts on the bike – which is exceedingly rare for a “vintage” racer. These are often upgraded and modified from year to year, and generally become frankenbikes as bits are added, removed or changed.
I would love for some of the RSBFS Ducati tifosi to chime in here if they know more. There is a dearth of information on the bike and the opening ask is only $4k with reserve in place. What do you guys think, and what is it worth? For more info, click here and check out the auction. Let us know your thoughts!

Can you guys just rename rsbfs.com to LEDucsforsale.com? I bet you guys can’t go 2 weeks without posting a Ducati!
This site is seriously getting lame
We hate being lame LOL!
What would you be posting instead? Help us out Truth!

He’s right. Factory race Duc’s . . . on a site for bikes that are rare and sporty??? I don’t know what you guys are thinking!
Lol…. this site still rocks IMO and I’m not much of a Duc fan (except for the new 1199, that thing is sick!)
Hey TruthScreamer, I just wanted to pass along some helpful advice, it’s something I’ve been doing for some time now and it has really brought much peace and joy in my life.
When I see a bike on this sight that doesn’t interest me I carefully utilize the little wheel on my mouse (hopefully you have one too) and SCROLL to the next bike. This technique is difficult at first, but gets much easier with practice.
Try it, its fun!
1st. This site rocks! VERY useful for collectors like myself. I check in daily. Keep up the good work.
2nd. I have one of these rare bikes in my living room. How much info do you want?? 🙂 Email me if you want more. Mine is a “’91 model 851 Superbike Racing” as the factory called it…also kown and a Roche Replica with the 888 motor. It was almost identical to Raymond Roche’s factory superbike that he won the WSBK championship on. These bikes were dominant in the late 80s and early 90s. These were $50K US from the factory ( I have the original sales receipt) it came with no sidestand, fans, starter, lights, keys or speedo. It is covered in magnesium, carbon and billet. Arguably the most beautiful bike ever to come out of Bologna. Mine was never raced but was owned by a famous actor and believe it or not ridden on the street in So Cal. I have a hunch this bike is either fake or the owner doesn’t have a clue what it is. I would be highly surprised if this bike was real and went for less than $25K. Not knowing an history on this bike leaves a lot of questions but it will be interesting to watch….how do you get a bike from South Africa to the US safely anyway??
Love the comments, guys. Keep ’em coming! I’m personally very jealous of BigstarATX – what a cool bike!
The seller of this bike has just uploaded additional photos of the bike. Take a look and let us know if you think this is legit…
