Even though this final year Paso is coming up on its 30th birthday, its innovative design still checks a lot of boxes. This example has had a long term owner who made some substantive improvements.
1992 Ducati 907 i.e. for sale on eBay
Massimo Tamburini’s first Ducati commission for the new Cagiva owners, the Paso hid an easier to build ( and robust ) chassis under full molded bodywork. The 907 I.E. had the best drivetrain of the series, after binning the single Weber and air-cooling, both of which resented the enclosed sauna. 17-inch alloy wheels were now standard, and a longer swingarm soothed the increased horsepower. 1992 brought the largest brake rotors of the model run, with multi-adjustable 42mm Marzocchi forks. Luggage manufacturers have made all manner of bags and boxes for the Paso’s if a longer trip is in your plans.
Looking good in the factory black / white / grey, more and better pictures would be in order before jumping in. The tail looks a little too tidy, but out-of-production Staintune mufflers likely play a street beat. Comments saved on capitalization and punctuation but get the point across – engine rebuild, ECU update, and suspension blueprinting. All the heavy lifting done, tires way overdue. From the eBay auction:
Owned by an old man the rides are to the store I’ve had this bike for 16 years and think it’s one of the most beautiful bikes ever made these bikes in this condition will only go up in value rare anthracite charcoal color Moto to cams ported and polished heads 888 computer stain tune exhaust stainless steel braided brake lines Lindeman forks Penske shock 16,500 miles.
Actually a post-Paso since they retired the name, with production numbers less than a couple of thousand per year, it’s surprising this rarity stayed in the line-up until 1992. The 750 is still revered as the best handling, with small changes breaking the magic on the 906 and 907. This last edition could do with a bit more attention, but is attractively priced and won’t be held back by worn-out mechanicals when it’s in concours condition.

A red Paso was the very first Ducati I saw in the wild back in the late ’80’s. Later, I was fortunate enough to own a ’91 for many years until a friend convinced me to sell it to him. I eventually found a silver ST3 to replace it, something that was a better bike in every way than the 907. Both bikes were very sweet rides. However, to my eye the Paso is one of my favorite designs of any bike. Something about the proportions, the perceived long wheelbase, the fully enclosed body work, the opaque windscreen, the way the white wheels contrast against the paint, plus everything else that goes with the brand. Glad I have those memories of my 907.
Never seen this color combo. I usually hate black bikes as they hide contours the designers scupted into the bodywrk. But ithik the black with the grey seat is sublime. If i had the garage space, that buy it now would have gotten clicked just now. I don’t streetride anymore but the prospect of flying west and riding it back to texas for a week is hard to resist. Living in an apartment, where vehicals left in the parking lot are often molested, makes this a mandatory pass. Bummer. I doubt opportunities like this will come up again under more favorable circumstances.
I saw Paso for the first time at the Tokyo Motor Show in the early 80s. I thought it was the weirdest looking bike, the mirrors and one-piece body-colored windshield and all that. In the early 90s, I was living up on Twin Peaks, and there was this couple who had one each, one red and one yellow, I thought they were so cool. But it really was the last few years that I started to want one. I still think it’s such a strange bike, but man I wish I could have one!
Liked the Paso the first time I saw one. Got a red ’87, rejetted the carb, modified the stock air-box, installed lighter-better flowing mufflers. Really enjoyed it for 10 years and approx. 50K miles.
Glad to see the Paso is finally getting some likes. I believe the design has aged well.
Interesting tidbit, the frame was designed specifically for the 16″ wheels/tires/
I owned a 750 Limited and currently own a 907. The 750 does not handle better.
eBay shows best offer was accepted. Buy-it-now was $5,000 or offer. -dc
