Who Am I? 1991 Magni Moto Guzzi
If there is such a thing as a John Doe of motorcycles this might be it. I have absolutely zero idea what model Magni this is. Now, don’t get the idea that I was all over the fact that Magni even existed: I didn’t. What a cool little company they are though. So, even though I don’t know the model and she is a little rough, let’s use this as an excuse to look at some Italian two wheeled art.
Magni’s are known for their hand made parts including their hand hammered aluminum tanks.
Here is what I do know. Magni was founded by former MV and Gilera engineer Arturo Magni. Magni worked with both companies during the heights of their racing success. Once MV called it quits with racing Magni decided to head out on his own. The company started with retooling MV Agusta’s but also dabbled in Gilera’s, Honda’s and BMW’s. In 1985 they made the switch to Moto Guzzi. Words like “masterpiece” and “sculpture” seem to be closely associated with anything from Magni. For a more informed read on their history and models check out this site.
Once you are done at that site be sure to check out the official Magni website. Make sure you have some spare time because there are some seriously cool bikes to look at. Don’t leave without clicking on the Magni Specials and owners gallery.
Maybe you will have more luck than me but I did not see this exact motorcycle anywhere on the site. It seems to have bits and pieces from a couple of models. I came away thinking maybe it is not in original condition or is possibly a custom one off special.
Magni Moto Guzzi’s came complete with their own design for the rear end. From what I under stand, their Parallelogrammo rear suspension would enable the rear of the bike to perform like that of a chain driven motorcycle. Technically I don’t know what it is doing to the shaft drive. As the photos show, the bike is in semi rough condition.
Here is what we have from the seller:
1991 MAGNI ,1000 VERY RARE SPORT BIKE ,FACTORY MAGNI ,RUNS EXCELLENT ,BELGIUM TITLE , EVERYTHING WORKS ,ALL IMPORT DOUMENTS ,LOW RESERVE ,WE AT BUYERS EXPENSE CAN SHIP WORLDWIDE ,THESE BIKES NEVER COME UP FOR SALE ,VERY LOW PROUCTION ,THEY USE A 1000 CC MOTO GUZZI ENGINE AND COMPONENTS .REASONABLE RESERVE ,,BID TO WIN !!!
The seat unit and forks seem much more modern that the rest of the bike making me think some things have been changed. I’ve been wrong plenty of times in the past though. Who knows their Italian exotics and can add more info on this bike?
She’s been around the block a few times, she isn’t pristine but she is rare as (insert your favorite saying). The BIN is an even $15,000 with an auction to go along with it. Maybe more so than any bike I’ve posted before, I’m lost on the value of the bike. That means I’m not even guessing on a price. Forget the price though, this may be your chance if you’ve been a Magni enthusiast and have a spot in the garage waiting for it.

Looks just like an Australia 98 to me. But withouth the full front fairing. My imagination has some explanations for why it sports a stock style Guzzi bullet fairing instead. But, I am not an expert and my assumptions are based on looking at http://www.magni.it/australia.htm
Way too many unanswered questions on this one, and way too rough of condition to be seriously desireable- unless very cheaply bought. Magni’s are wonderfull Guzzis, if unmolested. This one’s a pity.
Does it have more power than an old 650?! Derrrr
This most definitely is NOT an Australia.
The Australia had the spine frame (from the Guzzi Daytona) and the 4v 1000cc i.e. engine.
This looks like a Guzzi Tonti-framed derivative, so very likely a 1989 Magni Sfida, with Australia parts like the tail section, wheels, brakes and probably front fork.
Hello, if i’m not wrong i believe it’s the magni arturo. Made around 1994, 1000 cc engine with the paralellogram suspension. The original bike looks different from this bike with another buddyseat that can sit two persons.
