Two blkes.
One has 880 miles the other has 6000 miles.
I have owned them for years.
Both need carbs rebuilt and brakes rebuilt.

Forgotten gems worth reviving? We are hoping that someone on our list is looking for a small project.
We have seen it before that some bikes slipped through the cracks when they were new — only to become cult classics decades later. (Kind of like the Super Troopers movie.) The 1986 Yamaha SRX-6 is one such machine. Imported into the U.S. for just one model year, this light, air-cooled 608 cc single earned a reputation not for horsepower numbers but for nimble handling and unique character. And since there are two here, you could ride one and hide one.
With only a few still on the road today and even fewer turning up in markets like Facebook Marketplace, finding two low-mile SRX-6s needing some love is a small-project enthusiast’s dream.
Good luck to the buyer and seller!

I built the motor on one, ported head and megacycle cam, supertrapp exhaust. The bike could squirt past cars on twisty roads very easily. They will hear you coming and going. Repainted mine in silver and that really made the bike stand out. XS400 is also a great bike, maybe not for power but the handling was really nice.
Agreed, this is a great find. I can recall being humbled on a technical back road by an old friend (with talent) on one of these.
Yeah, I just chuckle now. My friend, Danny had an SR500 and talked me into getting an Ascot 500. We were both 500 single fans. When the SRX600 came out we thought it was way better than our current rides. Both of us traded our bikes in for SRX600’s. I still have my SRX600 and have done a few mods through the years. I don’t see other SRX600’s much anymore, but it still has that torquey, light weight, sweet handling, and thumper sound, goodness.
I put a breathed-on SR500 in a SRX250 frame with SRX400 front end and FZR600 rear, and tried to go up against other singles. An Ascot ran away from me, ugly. Until he literally blew up his fork bottom from braking harder than it could handle. I assume the SRX600 could walk away from an Ascot. These singles definitely have the cheapest parts out of the parts bin at the different mfrs…. I don’t miss the vibration and tight gearing that has 1st go to 25mph and 5th that would run out of revs at 80mph.
