Introducing a collector-quality 2004 Ducati 999R Fila Edition, a masterpiece built to commemorate Ducati’s 200th victory in the World Superbike Championship. This particular bike is #90 of only 200 produced globally, with just 75 units making their way to the United States. With a single meticulous owner and a mere 1,453 original miles, this Ducati is a rare gem. The Ducati Red with special Fila livery is flawless, showcasing the bike’s striking design. Stored and displayed in a private collection since new, it’s been preserved in pristine condition. Powered by a 999cc liquid-cooled L-twin engine, this 999R boasts an impressive 150 hp, enhanced by performance-focused upgrades and carbon fiber accents-a true testament to Ducati’s dedication to engineering excellence. Featuring high-end adjustable hlins suspension and a trellis frame, the 999R offers some of the finest handling of any Ducati from its era. Finding a limited-edition Fila Ducati in this condition with such low mileage is nearly impossible-this is a rare opportunity you won’t want to miss!
The other day really interesting and well used Ducati 999S was posted and very well received. While many might harp on what some thought of the styling of the 999 when first released, at this point there is no real argument that the 999 has aged wonderfully. These are appreciated by collectors as a great bike to ride, and one that has a rich racing history. Doesn’t everyone dream of a red Italian machine with pedigree?
As a reader of RSBFS there is no need to bore you with details about how the R versions are the homologation bikes for racing and the top of the heap. As would stand to reason they are also the most expensive and desirable models. What makes this particular example special is that it is the ultra rare version with the FILA livery. There have only been a few years that Ducati offered the R model with a graphics package to match the track going siblings.
Yes it is $24,900, but it does present well with low mileage and few modifications. The departures of original are tasteful and appear to be of a high quality. The next owner could easily sell off those parts and return to factor if desired.
The price might be a tad high, or just have a carryover of the COVID tax, but these are well past the bottom of the depresiation curve. The mindset might be more “buying early” rather than “over paying” now.
