1992 Yamaha FZR600 Vance & Hines Edition #476 with 2,620 Original Miles

This a very nice, low mileage, Vance & Hines Edition FZR600.

Bike:  1992 Yamaha FZR600 V&H

Location:  Mountain Lakes, New Jersey

Mileage:  2,620mi

The seller states that this bike is “…perfect without a scratch.”  It was recently tuned and supposedly runs like a champ.  This bike looks to be perfectly stock (except for the windscreen) and in fantastic condition as the seller states.  We’ve had a few V&H Edition FZR’s in the past and none had this low of mileage or were in as original condition.  See the other FZR600s we’ve posted here.

The Vance & Hines Edition wasn’t special other than the commemorative scheme and V&H exhaust system.  1992 was also the last year for the square headlight design which only lasted for two years before Yamaha reverted back to the earlier, dual headlight, design that was so popular.  If you’re a Yamaha collector, you should have one of these and this is probably one of the best examples out there.  See the bike on eBay .

1987 Honda CBR600F Hurricane With 8K Original Miles

This is a nice looking, first year, CBR600F Hurricane about to end on eBay.

Bike:  1987 Honda CBR600F Hurricane

Location:  Bradley, Illinois

Mileage:  8,101mi

The seller states that this bike is a one owner example, in showroom new condition.  The bike has been modified with a K&N filter (And probably a drilled air-box cover), an F1 exhaust system, a larger rear sprocket and the passenger pegs have been modified.  The only claimed cosmetic imperfection is the small crack in the front fender.  The carb’s were gone through earlier this year and new, Pro-line, fuel lines were also installed.

The bike does look very good in the pictures.  I don’t doubt that it is fantastically clean in person but there may be some small issues the seller may have missed but, I’m pretty sure they know the bike quite well after 23 years.

Sadly, the only issue this bike may have is the price:  I don’t see this bike going for $3,500 and the seller has a reserve in place.  Heading into fall, I’d probably assume this bike would go in the $2.5k-2.8k range.  There are collectors for these early CBR’s but, they seem to not be willing to pay a premium because they know no one else will.

This was the first production 600cc bike to crack the quarter mile in under 12 seconds with a time of 11.7 @ 113mph.  These early CBR’s are quite fun if you realize they are 23yo technology.  Parts are prevalent and nothing is really difficult other than the valve service–just like any inline four within a confined frame.  The only major drawback is the rim widths.  While the rims are 17″ front & rear, they are quite narrow and were originally fitted with bias-ply’s leaving the current tire choices limited–but, still better than for an FZR.

Although I wouldn’t spring for this bike at this price, I believe these aren’t a bad choice if you’re looking for a budget collectible.  While the F2 & F3 bikes may have had more aftermarket parts during their time, the Hurricane will always be the first generation of the, ongoing, iconic CBR.  See this bike on eBay .

1989 Yamaha FZR750R OW01 In Mexico

This is a real FZR750R OW01 available in Mexico!

Bike:  1989 Yamaha FZR750R

Location:  Mexico City, Mexico

Mileage:  5,148km

The listing has really no information other than that the bike only comes with the Japanese title, doesn’t have a 17 digit VIN, cosmetically it has some small nicks and there is a video that shows the tach works.  The photos do show that the fairings are pretty rough (For a collector OW01) and there appears to be some surface corrosion.

On from that, I’ll refresh your memory on the OW01.  The FZR750R was created to compete against the RC30 in World SuperBike racing.  The OW01 shares very little with the standard FZR750 and a little more in common with the FZR1000.  The short stroke motor breathes through four 38mm flat-side Mikuni’s, five valves, hand finished porting, lightweight pistons, titanium connecting rods mated to a close ratio transmission.  This results in 108RWHP at 12,500RPM.

The OW01 also features an aluminum Deltabox frame and swingarm with fully adjustable Ohlins units front & rear with Nissin four-pot calipers mated to 320mm discs in the front.

This bike is a result of Yamaha’s need to get a competitive bike Homologated for World SuperBike;  Yamaha only needed to produce 500 example for Homologation making the OW01 very scarce then, as well as now.

If you want a bike that an RC30 owner will cross the street for, a FZR750R should do it.  The trouble with this bike will be importing it.  If you’d like to bring this into the U.S. it will probably be difficult or nigh-impossible.  The easiest way would be to bring it in as a race bike but, it has to obviously be a race bike.  If you don’t know where to start, I would do some research or find an informed confidant and wait for the next one to pop up.  See the other OW01’s we’ve had here.  See this current bike on eBay .

1987 Yamaha FZR1000 With 6,000 Original Miles In California

This is a mint FZR1000 with 6k original miles!

Bike:  1987 Yamaha FZR1000 Genesis

Location:  Fremont, California

Mileage:  6,000mi

Price:  $2,800 USD

This was the Bike of the Year for 1987 and this bike is, supposedly, in mint condition with only 6k miles.  The seller states that this bike has new Bridgestone’s.  At $2,800; I call this a great price if the condition is accurate.  You’d be unlikely to find a decent example for less than $2,500 let alone a mint, 6k mile, one.  Give this seller a call!  See the bike on Craigslist here.

1994 Yamaha YZF-750R With 2,590 Original Miles On eBay.

This is a one owner, showroom condition, ’94 YZF-750R!

Bike:  1994 Yamaha YZF-750R

Price:  $2,950USD with three days remaining.

Location:  Cincinnati, Ohio

Mileage:  2,590

Located in Cincinnati, Ohio is a 1994 Yamaha YZF-750R with 2,590 original miles with no scratches or marks on it.  The seller states that this is a one owner bike and has the following modifications:  Vance & Hines carbon fiber slip-on, Goodrich Kevlar clutch & brake lines, carbon fiber front fender with original included, K&N filter, smoked windscreen and lastly a fender eliminator kit.  The seller also states that this bike has a new battery, all fluids were flushed and replaced within the last 50 miles, and the EXUP valve was serviced.  This bike has always been stored inside and shows no scratches or marks.

The United States never received the SP variation of this bike which was the homologation special but, we did get the R which was a very capable machine at the time.  This bike was based on the OW01 which preceded it but, the bikes share no interchangeable parts.  The standard R model is more usable in the rear world as it doesn’t feature the homologation pieces (close-ratio transmission, big carb’s, hard suspension, etc.) which are needed for competition use but can sometimes make the bike peaky or contribute other tendencies that aren’t positive aspects on the road.  This YZF was the first bike to feature six-piston front calipers as standard.  The bike also features:  The 5-valve head Yamaha adored during the ’90’s, 41mm, adjustable, USD forks with an adjustable rear shock; a wet weight of 215kg and a BHP number of 125.

I find these YZF’s to be very cool.  Regardless of how you may feel about the colors, they still have the presence and look to remind you that this is still a serious superbike.  Sadly, not many of them are out there and the ones that are, aren’t usually in very good condition.  If you’d like a fantastic example of a YZF-750R that can easily be returned to stock, you should definitely have a look at this example.  Some hi-res photos of the bike can be viewed here.  The eBay listing can be seen .

1990 Yamaha FZR400 With 5,176 Original Miles In Southern Oregon

A 1990 FZR400 with only 5,176 original miles in Southern Oregon!  Located in Medford, Oregon is a 1990 Yamaha FZR400 with 5,167 original miles and an asking price of $2,800!  The seller states that this bike is completely original but, has been sitting for some time.  I posted another ’90 in Southern California with 1,830 miles and an asking price of $3,785.  The asking price of the California bike makes this bike look like a steal as it is priced where we are seeing other FZR400’s but, this one is wholly original and only has 5k miles.  The 1990 FZR400 is the most desirable of the three years it was officially imported as they feature an aluminum swingarm, brakes, and some other bits.  These little FZR’s are only becoming rarer in this condition and I should say that this one seems like a very good deal for mileage and condition.  This is another bike I wish I was buying instead of posting!  See this Fizzer on Craigslist here.

1994 Honda CBR400RR Titled & Registered In Washington State

Here is another CBR400R coming out of Washington state that is also registered!  Located in Seattle, Washington is a 1994 Honda CBR400RR registered & titled with 23,000km (14,300mi).  The seller states that this is a two owner bike (Two in the U.S. or…?) and it is a “…7 out of 10” in regards to condition.  The bike is fitted with a hideous–fact, not opinion–GP-style exhaust.  The bike has recently had a tune up, the oil changed, and new tires.  The asking price is $3,800; putting it in-between the other two CBR400RR’s we’ve posted which is correct in terms of their condition too.  See the other CBR in Washington with an asking price of $3,500 here, and see the Rossi replica example in Florida for $4,500 here.  See the bike currently for sale on Craigslist here.

2006 Yamaha YZF-R1 Limited Edition With Less Than 100 Original Miles

This is another R1 Limited Edition with insanely low miles!  Located in Mission Viejo, California is a 2006 Yamaha YZF-R1 Limited Edition with less than 100 original miles.  For condition the seller states “Never been washed or exposed to the sun. It’s been under a cover in my garage since new.”  That’s a bit of an embellishment as it is in the sun for the pictures but that’s nit-picking!  I don’t doubt this bike is in fantastic condition as it has only had to fend off lawn mowers and old furniture in it’s short life.  The asking price is $13,500.  The price is high but it isn’t completely outrageous as the other LE’s we’ve seen were listed for $11,995 and $12,995 respectively.  These bikes are amazing performers and come outfitted from the factory better than any other production R1 that we’ve seen in the U.S.  See this shining example on Craigslist here.
