It is hard to make a stock Ducati seem ordinary but the Motion Ducati’s pull it off pretty easily. I know it is just a picture but doesn’t it just give the impression that every single item on the bike, down to the nuts and bolts is just perfect?
Even the emblem is kick ass. The Motion Ducati’s seem to have a little mystery to them because there is not a whole lot of info on them out there on the internets. Well, at least my lazy ass couldn’t find much. Basically, it so sounds like it is run by one Brad Miller out of Texas and that the attention to detail is incredible. One forum thread even described him flying out to a Motion Ducati owners home to help with set up and maintenance lessons. Damn, nobody from Hammatsu flew out to help me with this GSXR sitting in my garage.
Basically, Motion takes a really good Ducati and turns it into the ultimate Ducati. I think any friends with 999R’s would be mighty jealous.
Here is the list of upgrades and it is pretty damn impressive:
Here is an opportunity to own an “almost new” Ducati Motion SBK Superbike with beautiful high performance upgrades as follows: front OHLINS (custom application), OHLINS radial billet bottom kit, OHLINS rear shock (with remote preload, high/low, data flats), OHLINS damper, Brembo radial calipers, billet caliper spacers, titanium caliper bolts, Brembo RS rotors with 10mm offset, titanium rotor bolts, FO5 brake line kit, Brembo radial brake master, Brembo radial clutch master, Brembo brake reservoir, Brembo clutch reservoir, RS Corse slipper clutch with plates, carbon clutch cover, 39t Renthal rear race sprocket with DID ERV3 chain, RS 520 lightened 14t front sprocket, billet rear sets, Nemesis ECU, F1 factory Quick Shifter (dyno tuned), billet top clamp, Marchesini magnesium wheels, carbon tank pad cover, anodized black Motocorse rear stand, billet fuel cap (quick release), carbon exhaust heat shield, suede leather seat, powder coated (subframe, rear spring, suspension parts), custom paint (MotionSBK white, orange, carbon), custom carbon tail, full carbon (body, sides, deflectors, fender, v-pc, nose, key guard, inlet covers), full 57mm Termignoni exhaust with titanium can, high compression billet pistons with titanium wrist pins, balanced and blueprinted engine, FO5 windscreen. This low-mileage beauty originally built by Brad Miller was completely disassembled and rebuilt by him in 2009 (including the engine). This screamer is finely tuned, made of the highest quality components, has been little used, and is ready for some fun.
Not your average front end.
Billet pistons with ti wrist pins. Oh who doesn’t have those!
1,644 miles on it and it had a full rebuild in 2009.
Can this bike win over the Ducati faithful that treat the 999 like a redheaded stepchild? The bike has a $17,900 BIN to go along with the auction. Let’s hear from the RSBFS faithful; do you like it and what is it worth to you?
THIS IS NOT THE BIKE FOR SALE but well worth 1:35 of your life to watch.

Good to learn that the Ducati Faithful treat the 999 like the redheaded stepchild. This reinforces my belief that the 999 is the best looking modern Ducati sportsbike, and distances myself even further from the “Ducatisti”. Cool!!!. I have never heard of the guy that blings these bikes up,or if he is still around.Looks like some sort of PRE-GFC operation for the sub-prime set.You couldn’t get away with that these days.
I’m with you Lord Byron, me likey the 999. I remember stories of the Ducati faithful pleading with Ducati to make the post 999 model look more like the 916.
“Looks like some sort of PRE-GFC operation for the sub-prime set.You couldn’t get away with that these days.”
Could somebody please translate that for the rest of us?
The 916 was a tough act to follow but the 999 is super cool. I think my favorite part is the standard swing arm. Single sided swingers are cool as a period look, but once all the race teams stopped using them they turned into a fashion statement. Save that noise for speed triples and VFRs. A Ducati SS bike is supposed to be a serious machine and there is nothing serious about a single sided swing arm after 1994…
6thgear….It means your country is nearly broke because you bought materialistic shit with money you didn’t have.
First off I have to say I’m not a Ducati fan per se, I also think the 999 is a real minger in the looks department, BUT this paint scheme does go someway to hiding it’s god awful looks. The spec is pretty awesome though.
Motion is still around and still customizing ducati’s. IMO his bikes aren’t really special. all he does is open up a parts catalog, order a bunch of parts and bolt it all together. anybody can do it. just go to your nearest coffe shop and you’ll see a hundred japenese bikes with a ton of parts thrown at em!
I like it!!! I own a S and a R. I am a true fan of the 999. To me it is a very beautiful machine, runs and rides great!!!. When set up right it will handle and run with the best!!!
As for price ? Why not .! Ya get what ya pay for:)
Just Do your home work , call the seller ,make a Deal:-)
Would make for a very happy new year !!!
I’m thinking the 999 is a must have Ducati. It was one of the most successful racing platforms Ducati ever made. While many people are Ducati fans because of their design excellence, performance, race history is an equal or more important motivation.
This Motion Ducati looks like a good deal for a regular riding bike. Super trick parts on a great bike heavily discounted over their initial purchase price. It however pales in comparison to a Ducati R bike with respect to holding it value or increasing in value over time, since it has no racing history and no design innovation.
As a regular rider, the issue is the 999 is basically a decade old platform, and even heavily dosed with trick performance parts it rapidly losing ground to the latest and greatest. Flip another $2K on the fire and you get an S1000RR HP4 or base Panigale.
Well stated Ray.
