2000 KTM Duke II 640

Long before KTM dreamed of MotoGP glory, they built bikes like this Duke II 640. Based around a dirt bike engine that included a kick start, the Duke II is technically more of a supermoto than an outright sportbike. There’s obviously a line there somewhere, but the Duke does a good job blurring it and most “real” sportbikes would have a hard time keeping up with one once the road turns tight and twisty. Top speed is barely 100mph but the bike is 320lbs dry and makes 54hp from the 624cc single that featured a single overhead cam and four valves. Quality WP suspension provides excellent handling and 17″ wheels mean modern sportbike rubber will fit. It’s not comfortable or good for long distances, but should provide fun for as long as your license lasts…
Super nice 2000 KTM 640 LC4 Duke II, Road or trail this bike can do it all!
Only 14,017 miles, fresh service, looks great, runs great! This is a relatively rare motorcycle built by KTM in collaboration with Ducati and MV Agusta equipped with the legendarily reliable and sought after LC4 640 engine. This bike was marketed to experienced riders and is very powerful and fun to ride. The OEM “tire hugger” front fender has been removed and a newer KTM front fender has been installed to give the bike a more modern, supermoto style.
The bike has Michelin Pilot Power tires that are in very good condition with lots of life left, Brembo brakes, and aftermarket rear turn signals for safety in traffic.
We also have a box of extra parts that includes a KTM briefcase with original manuals and paperwork the original set of grey and orange fairings and body parts in good condition which are included with the sale.
This particular example of KTM’s original do-it-all hooligan bike is a bit rough around the edges, but that appears to be from use, rather than abuse. Overall, it’s complete: note the image that includes all of the original bodywork, including the more road-oriented front fender. It might need a bit of love to get the cosmetics up to snuff, but the price is right: just $3,000. These are very rare here in the US and seem like they’d be an absolute blast if you live in a congested city or, say, just a few miles from some of the best motorcycling roads in the country… If kicking over a big single is your thing [there’s also an electric start if you prefer], move quickly: the auction ends Saturday, April 6th!
