In 1985 Suzuki shocked the motorcycle world with the introduction of the GSX-R 750. Just like the ZX900 Ninja did a few years earlier, the GSX-R made a quantum leap forward in terms of performance and speed, while reducing overall size and weight. But while the Ninja strove to take a liter bike and make it as sharp as a racer, the GSX-R *was* a racer. Targeting the 750cc class, the first model Gixxer was born into competition. With a healthy contingency program, it is likely that more amateur racers spent time on a GSX-R than any other brand or model during the late 1980s. That is one reason that despite the numbers, there are few excellent copies to be found. This bike, however, might well be classified as a survivor.
1986 Suzuki GSX-R 750 for sale on eBay
From the seller:
ALL TUNED – NEW TIRES, NEW FORK SEALS, NEW BATTERY.. ALL READY TO ROLL AND ENJOY…
Not too much by way of text from the seller. The pictures are also somewhat sparse. What is shown is a clean example of an iconic model. Opting for a hybrid cooling method that combined both air cooling with a high-flow oiling system, the GSX-R was a class lightweight. 1986 was the second year of production. There are only minor changes between the original ’85 model and the 1986 series – essentially a swingarm mod to aid handling. So if you want an early slab sided Gixxer, this would be a good model year to seek. Located in Rhode Island, the current bid is still below $4,000…which is a bargain considering the age and condition. Check it out here. Good Luck!

looks like there is a second one further back in the garage..
This bike must be seen in person for the collector. I looked it over and had some concerns so please do your homework before pulling the trigger on this sight unseen. I am by no means saying it is not a nice clean bike, but for the purists it falls short (and you know who you are) some things are not correct and or don’t look right and I am sure they can call them out….
Listing ended.
joe- I’ve owned a couple of ’86 GSXRs, and not too much here jumped out at me. That’s due to the only four poorly lighted and composed pictures, no right side shown, and the lack of additional close ups. I just see incorrect blue grips, missing bar ends, and missing PDF stickers on bottom of fork legs. This could be a great lesson in basing a purchase on four poor eBay pictures versus a critical in person inspection. This bike is gone- what did you notice in person that seemed wrong?
Meant to say no LEFT side shown…
Would also like to know what the issues were from a proper inspection. The few average photos make it appear pretty decent.
I just bought an 86 GSXR750, jap spec with 6,500kms. There was about 20 decent pics in the add and I didn’t act on it till I received pics with the fairing removed.
