Jones-ing for a new ride this holiday season ? Here’s a rare mango Sport 1000 with low miles, and there’s still enough month left to ship it almost anywhere.
2006 Ducati Sport Classic 1000 for sale on eBay
One of Ducati’s now classic engines, the 992cc desmodue was air-cooled but dual plugs and modern fuel injection gave a smooth application of 91 hp. The engine hangs in the breeze below the trellis frame, and locates the asymmetrical swingarm, which was only used on the ’06. Clip-on handlebars gave it a café racer’s stance, with front and rear Öhlins to soak up reality. Supersport Brembos were overdone for the generally relaxed mission, but standing by in a pinch. 17-inch alloy hoops were laced to the hubs for a retro look par excellence.
Rosso Corsa in Costa Mesa presents their customer’s super nice Sport 1000, with Termi megaphones and seemingly recent tires. Likely the first valve adjustment has been done, and the belts replaced on time rather than miles, but it is a question for buyer to ask. The seat is another question, as Sport 1000’s were monoposto, but a later GT1000 ( dual shocks and seat ) seems to be on the mind of the commenter in the eBay auction –
If you are looking for the coolest Ducati Sport 1000 on the road today – this is it. Period !
We are proud to present this very rare 2006 Ducati Sport 1000. This is a rare bike in like new condition. This is your chance to own a piece of motorcycle history. This bike is truly breathtaking!
– Termignoni Exhaust
With the Sport 1000, Ducati follows the 1970s trend of individualism and performance. Boasting a dual seat and twin shocks, the Sport 1000 lets you enjoy the Café Racer style two – up. A removable tailpiece cover gives the Sport 1000 the Café Racer look, but when removed reveals a seat for your favorite passenger.
Its confident road holding is thanks to its race – inspired Trellis frame and sport – tuned suspension. It uses high performance Öhlins front forks, while rear suspension is handled by a high performance fully adjustable Öhlins shock.
In the same burnt yellow that made the 1973 750 Sport an icon, this Sport 1000 might not be your only Duc but certainly has a place in the garage. The ask indicates Rosso Corsa considers this a present rather than future classic, and it’s certainly in collectible condition. RSBFS would love to hear from the next owner !

The first year Sport Classic with the asymmetric swingarm, stacked exhaust on the right side, and in yellow was the most desirable of the series IMO. This bike looks great. The ask looks a bit high to me, but they have been climbing steadily in value for years. I remember looking closely at them about 9 years ago, and you could find very clean, low miles examples just like this one (with the Termis) for about 1/3 of what they are asking for this one. Everyone was concerned about the plastic tanks at that time, which had a habit of swelling/distorting and were expensive to replace, which made the bikes a hard sell. That same phenomenon of course has not changed, but it doesn’t seem to affect the market values anymore…
They are great bikes. No electronics to get in the way of a fantastic riding experience (I have the same in red). Couple of minor points. There is no pillion seat. This is solo riding only (the dual shock bikes have rear seat, but not for 2006). Also suspension are not Ohlin (that’s for the Paul Smart only). I had my tank sealed and I only use ethanol-free gas. Runs beautifully.
That’s a lot of money for no ohlins, little or no carbon, not much in the way of modern electronics and only 90hp.
