Today’s Bimota SB8R follows the the Rimini-based company’s familiar formula of basing their exotic sportbikes around reliable, or at least well-developed engines from outside manufacturers. The SB8R uses Suzuki’s powerful, charismatic, and long-serving liquid-cooled, four valve 996cc v-twin to create a stylish and compelling package. For the technical-minded, the centerpiece here is Bimota’s very sophisticated beam frame that includes carbon fiber elements to maximize strength and minimize weight. The design also eliminates a significant weakness of the Suzuki TL1000R, specifically the rotary rear dampener. Originally, Suzuki decided that the v-twin’s relatively long front-to-back design wouldn’t allow for a conventional spring and shock layout, so they looked to a bit of Formula 1 technology to solve their problem and an unusual rotary unit was fitted. Unfortunately, the component was undersized for the application and tended to overheat under hard use, leading to famously wayward handling. Bimota used a conventional unit set up alongside the v-twin engine. This solved the handling problem, but tight packaging could make servicing a bit more difficult…

This 1991 motorcycle is a beauty that’s sure to turn heads. With a powerful 1100cc engine and only 1200 miles on the odometer, it’s in great shape and ready for its next adventure. The exterior color is a stunning red that’s sure to catch your eye. The clean vehicle title makes it an ideal choice for anyone looking for a reliable ride. This motorcycle is the perfect choice for anyone who loves to feel the wind in their hair and the sun on their face. With its sleek design and powerful engine, it’s sure to provide an unforgettable riding experience. Don’t miss your chance to own this amazing bike today!
Well, it’s never a good sign when the seller doesn’t really know much about the bike they’re selling: this is definitely not a 1991 year bike, as it was produced between 1999 and 2000, although some may have been titled later. Also, as discussed, the bike does not have an 1100cc engine, and the description doesn’t include any information about upkeep or services performed. Miles are very low at 1,200 and the bike appears to be part of some sort of vehicle collection, so this one may need a bit of reconditioning and maintenance before it’s ready to “provide an unforgettable riding experience…” The carbon fiber is a bit faded and the paint looks like it could use a bit of work but, once sorted, this should provide something possibly approaching the “Italian style with Japanese reliability” promised by the bike’s specification, and the desirable Arrow exhausts that were a factory option should make some very nice v-twin noises.

I’m always a little wary when a seller doesn’t even know the basic specifications, like displacement, of a motorcycle this exotic
Only on “E” land, I had a conversation with several individuals on their help community about just this very problem a couple of months ago. Their explication was basically, “it is what it is”. The bike deserves an accurate and proper accounting, sadly the individual selling nor ebay will be able to do either, everybody loses out.
