Displayed in 1971 and first sold in 1972, Ducati’s 750GT was the first roadgoing motorcycle to feature the company’s Fabio Taglioni-designed 90° v-twin engine, although it lacked Ducati’s now-ubiquitous Desmo valve actuation and used conventional valve springs instead, as Desmodromic valves would be reserved for the later SuperSport models. But the engine was still the classic, polished “round-case” engine enthusiasts know and love, with cams operated by the tower-shaft and bevel-drive arrangement famously used by Ducatis of the era. The 748cc engine produced 60-ish horses, depending on whom you ask, and the bike could reach over 120mph in 5th gear, edging into the redline. Period reviews claimed it was one of the very best handling machines of the era, with excellent high-speed stability, although very limited steering lock made low-speed maneuvering a bit frustrating. Some things never change… Sources vary slightly, but something more than 4,000 750GTs were built between 1971 and 1974, although production was briefly restarted in 1978 to produce an additional handful of units, making this an exceedingly rare motorcycle.

1974 DUCATI 750 GT sport bike, excellent condition. Needs nothing, near perfect bike. Have too many bikes, more than I have time to ride, priorities have changed. THIS IS A GREAT BIKE! California registered, clear and current title. READY TO RIDE.
This particular Ducati 750GT looks to be in excellent running condition and has pretty low mileage for a bike of this vintage. If you’ve got a vintage European bike itch to scratch, there are probably cheaper [Triumph Bonneville] or weirder [Benelli, Laverda, Morini], ways to scratch it, but there certainly won’t be one much more iconic. Sure, a SuperSport is probably the Italian sportbike, but those are generally prohibitively expensive and relatively uncomfortable to ride. Combine that gorgeous, musical, round-case v-twin with classic good looks and you’ve got a blue-chip investment you can actually ride…
