I don’t think I will ever get tired of seeing RG500’s for sale. With a 95hp two-stroke square four engine and a light weight package, what is not to love? The 500cc two-stroke represents something very cool and unique in my book and the Gamma would definitely be my weapon of choice.
I should be no surprise that this one hails from America’s Hat (Canada) as do a lot of the smoker’s we see for sale. Maple syrup and two-strokes? Where is my passport… I digress, this bike is not a minty fresh Gamma, as it has seen a low speed lay-down in its past. But the seller highlights that fairings have been replaced to bring it back to better condition. Miles aren’t super low either, but also not super high.
From the seller:
I’m regretfully selling my 86 RG500, time to move on. I am the 3rd owner. First owner sold it to my good friend in 87 with less than 1500 miles. My friend owned it till about 09 when he sold it to me. When I purchased it it had about 9200miles it now has 16645 km’s or 10343 miles. The bike has had a few paint touch ups over the years to fix flaws or minor wear, my friend was VERY anal.
I had a rt side lowside at about 25mph and damaged the upper and mid panel along with the rt mirror, muffler, turn signal and clutch lever. All where replaced with new OEM Suzuki parts with exception of the muffler which I found on Ebay. The muffler is in really nice shape.
The bike has always been stored indoors and all the black plastic is very nice with no oxidation or dryness. I do not have the rear seat for the bike, sorry,
This is a very clean original RG, NO modifications whatsoever, stock right down to the grips. When people see it they cannot believe it is almost 27 years old.
The deficiencies are as per the photos:
RT adjuster on fork, cracked.
Rear fender has a small broken piece.
Rt turn signal holder was cracker so it is epoxied to repair. I would carefully paint this but I want this revealed in the spirit of honesty.
Small scrape on rt side of belly pan, Otherwise, the belly pan is in overall good shape.
To me, this is one of those “just right” bikes. Not too pristine to ride. Not too thrashed to be a lost cause. The seller does disclose some imperfections and close-ups of such. Full disclosure is always appreciated. We have seen a decent amount of RG500’s for sale in the last year, and prices are only going up. The seller has set the opening bid at $12k, which is probably close to the max this bike would command. However, I would be surprised if it didn’t sell at this mark. You can check out the auction here and place your bid today!

Another over priced RG. Not imported so not registered either, been crashed, no mention of replacements of old seals gaskets, rings, and other stuff that goes on a 26 year old bike.
Nice gamma, I bought a much nicer stock RG500 for 6500 USD, 12K is too high!
