RSBFS
Back in 2019 Mike highlighted an ELR on RSBFS with an intro so perfect, we have to share it again. “Eddie Lawson won the AMA Superbike championship in 1981 and 1982. That alone should be enough to cement his name in the history books. But “Steady Eddie” did not stop there. He went on to become a 4-time 500cc GP champion, bettering the likes of Kenny Roberts, Freddie Spencer, Kevin Schwantz and Wayne Rainey. And while this KZ1000R ELR – or Eddie Lawson Replica – commemorates his success with Team Green, what you are really looking at is a tribute to a two-wheeled legend. Unlike many “limited edition” models these days that have little to do with the men that raced them, the ELR stands out as a time capsule hot rod honoring the hero that rode it to victory. As such, it is glorious.”
Superbike Replica
“The RSBFS faithful see the green paint, the giant black lump of air-cooled, four cylinder goodness, the gold accents, and instantly know this bike as an ELR: Eddie Lawson Replica. Eddie was responsible for Kawasaki championships in the 1981 and 1982 AMA Superbike series. The homage was well deserved, and Eddie has been inextricably linked to these models ever since. Technically the 1983 KZ1000R was officially branded as “Superbike Replica” and does not exhibit Eddie’s signature on the tank (Lawson had moved to the Yamaha GP team after 1982), but the blanket term of “ELR” continues to stick for these models.”
Back in 2017 one from RSBFS sold for $17,500 with only 6,200 miles. Seven years later we have this high-mile Superbike Replica going for $500 more.
Looking back at our posts over the years, the value has only gone up. This high mile bike would be a super cool rider. Imagine pulling into the lot to meet your friends on this machine.
Good luck to the buyer and seller!
Small point. The 1983 model was not called the Eddie Lawson Replica. It was called the Superbike Replica (see tank decal). Eddie had left after the 1982 season and Kawasaki no longer had marketing rights to his name. Nice bike and with higher miles drive it like you stole it.
@joexray – Thanks for pointing this out. I’ll clarify that point.
Literally 2 1/2 miles from my home!
Always wanted one of these…I had a 1978 Z1R for years…talked with Fast Eddie numerous times at AMA Superbike races, great guy and very approachable….
Well the price would be on point if is was fully restored or in pristine condition.
But in this condition and needed a full resto…maybe $12k mayber
