Miles: 14,440
Second Owner
Clean California Title
Listed Price: $4,200
Aprilia’s second generation super-hooligan was, as you’d expect, built around the more stylized and slightly less elegant frame of the company’s new RSV1000R, and featured restyled bodywork to match its fully-faired sibling. Both the original Tuono and this redesigned version aren’t what most would call conventionally beautiful, but are certainly very striking and distinctive machines. But whether you like the looks or not, beauty, as the cliché goes, is skin deep. And the bones of the Aprilia Tuono 1000R are stout: that aforementioned aluminum beam frame was matched to quality adjustable suspension at both ends [Showa/Sachs], and powered by the familiar and durable Rotax 60° v-twin displacing 998cc and producing a claimed 139hp. This is notable in that, while many naked sportbikes often featured last-generation frames and engines that were generally [de] “tuned for better midrange toque,” the Tuono’s powerplant was virtually unchanged from the RSV1000R superbike, which made just a handful of claimed horses more. The result was possibly the very first “super hooligan” motorcycle, a format that has become increasingly popular in recent years and provides the full superbike experience, with better ergonomics and less wind protection.

2008 Aprilia Tuono 1000R Excellent Condition 14.4K miles
$4200
I am selling my 2008 Tuono. I purchased the bike in March 2013 with 1400 miles. I am the second owner. I have ridden conservatively and never abused, raced or tracked the bike. I have the original owner’s manual and service records. It was very recently serviced with an oil change and filter, clutch and brake fluid change, coolant change and chain lubrication. It does not use or leak any oil, coolant or brake/clutch fluids.
This bike runs extremely well and is an excellent canyon carver – light, quick and a great powerband with a comfortable riding position. It has Delkevic mufflers, Power Commander, K&N air filter, NGK Iridium spark plugs, upgraded Aprilia seat and pillion seat cover, a Noco high capacity lithium battery and custom windscreen. It has been regularly serviced as recommended, including a valve service at 20km and a fork service. Tires are Dunlop Qualifiers in good condition. And, I have received many positive compliments about its appearance.
I have the original mufflers, original front and rear seats and some spare parts (front sprocket, coolant hoses, etc.) I hold the title, free and clear.
If you enjoy, or can at least tolerate the very un-subtle styling, this Aprilia Tuono 1000R represents and extremely compelling value proposition: it’s rare, collectible, reliable, and Italian, a highly usable and very competent sportbike, in excellent condition, with low miles for a very reasonable cost. There is very little out there at this price point to compete. It’s a shame that the pictures appear to have been shot on a potato phone, but this one is definitely worth checking out if you’re a one-bike rider who has a taste for the outré and is looking for a do-it-all machine.

tad, “potato phone”… thank you for that laugh.
otherwise, at 4k it’s this or a Husqvarna Vitpillen 400? that’s quite a spread in performance
Lots of bike for the money. A friend had one of these, but he was getting so many tickets that he got rid of it.
Nothing like that Rotax V-Twin…
