Yes, $6,000 bucks for a 12 year old 250cc motorcycle. Seems like a lot upon first glance, but considering there are only handful of these in the states your ‘rare’ factor is extremely high. Designed for countries that have size limits for newbs learning to ride motorcycles these baby CBR’s are quite nice. I’ve never seen one up close and personal, but it appears that Honda brought the goods on this model.
Have a look:
In the last picture you can see an aluminum frame and a braced swing arm (are you kidding me?). They also gave it dual front disc and real clip-ons. It frustrates me to no end that all of Europe gets the trick 2 strokes, and racier CBR 250RR and all we get in the states is the Flintstones version ‘Ninja 250 and 500’. I know you’ve heard me bitching enough about the state side lack of small cc bikes so I’ll stop…. for now because I’m not finished 🙁
Here’s the quote from the listing:
Initially these bikes were only sold new in Japan, and later the CBR250RR was sold new in Australia. But they can be found in almost any country of the world. In countries which have a 250cc learner capacity limit, the CBR250RR is one of the the most powerful 4-stroke bikes a learner is allowed to ride, hence their popularity. The CBR250RR has six gears, and revs just under 9,000 rpm at 100 km/h. Despite the high revs, the bike requires little maintenance, and should easily last 100,000 km with regular oil changes (over 1/2 a billion revolutions). The engine is somewhat unusual in that it uses gear driven cams, further reducing maintenance requirements.
I will have to say this is the first time I’ve ever seen anyone mention the number of revolutions the engine ‘should’ make as a selling point. I guess I must have been sleeping that day in business class.
